Keys don't work. Period. Or am I missing something?

I'm playing the game for the first time with patch 2.7. The keys in the clinic, and now the key to the Oceanhouse Hotel sewer entrance don't do squat. My character always goes for the lockpick. I tried Equipping the keys in the inventory, but nothing happens.

Is this a glitch particular to me, or am I just doing it wrong?

To use a key it just needs to be in your inventory when you try to use the door to open it. You don't need to equip them. It sounds like a bug or a problem with the patch. Did you install the official 1.2 patch before installing the unofficial 2.7 patch as you need to do this?

I'm not sure on if the save game will still work to be honest as I've never changed patches mid game.

Yes you could have weird gremlins (seriously) and you will need to reinstall Unofficial patch after you install Official 1.2, I would start over just to be safe.
