Grout Mansion crash

I've finished this game more than a few times, but this is the first time the game has crashed when I visit Grout's mansion, just as 'Nines' is going to talk to me.

It's not a lack of memory -- the crash log states that 81% of memory was in use...

My brother was the one to run into it first, and he's started a few new games, and I've got my own one, so it's not a corrupt save.

Would it be possible to skip the dialogue and just move straight into the building? Or even skip the quest -- I actually like Grout's mansion so I'm not being slack... I *really* don't want to re-install the game. I had to swap in an older cd-drive to install the game, and Compaq's (or at least ours) are horrible to crack open and play with.

Thank ye

I have tried skipping dialog before with no success and as for skipping going there its impossible... Its a main quest and the Prince won't send you anywhere else until you come back with news of Grout... And since your not headed there for an item, you can't just cheat the item into your hands and show up back at the tower and carry on.

About the skipping...

I was thinking more along the lines of changing my quest log or watever. I imagine there are a few lines I need to enter using the console to do that? And then of course add in a few xp points

Thanks for the quick reply, Mavrik. Is there either a work-around or solution to this that anyone knows of?
