Getting the downtown haven?

I have played a couple of characters and on my first run i got the downtown haven from the Prince, but these last times i´m stuck with the santa monica apartment.
What am i doing wrong? How do i get the haven?

He doesn't give it to you if you:

A) Are a Tremere or Nosferatu. They get their own havens.
B) Have been a jerk to him (I haven't confirmed this one though, you may be able to mouth off to him all you want).
C) Killed any of the policemen on the Elizabeth Dane.

Lacroix doesn't offer you the Downtown Skyline apartment until after you complete the "Calling Dr. Grout" mission. Once you've gotten out of the hollywood hills, head back to Lacroix, and tell him what you found out, then he will tell you about the "Patron of the Ancient Arts" quest, you ask for money, and as a parting note, he informs you that he has made a haven available for you in the Skyline apartments, unit 4. However, I think he'll only give it to you if you absolutely did not kill ANY cops on the Dane, and you have kissed serious bum up to now. As a side note, the Downtown haven Lacroix gives you is pretty sweet. Definatly worth kissing some butt for, to get you out of the Santa Monica rundown haven. Still not going to side with him at the end though...;-) Hope this helps,

Well on my first run to Dane I made a mistake and kill every single cop on that ship but I still get downtown haven from LaCroix, so I think that killing a cop is not an isue (unless you either have to kill all of them or none at all).

The first time I played through, I killed every cop on the ship, I was a gung-ho crazy melee malkavian, and my sneak skills sucked. I got the biggest telling-off when I got back. After that, Lacroix was a little funny with me. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe I didn't kill ALL the cops. Hmmm...must be a kill all or kill none scenario. I left the silly cop on the deck alive...maybe Lacroix didn't give me the downtown haven after that because he had to take care of the rest of the cops on the ship with an explosion. Oops.

I think that schmoozing is the key - yes sir, etc and no lip - at least not before you get the handy haven. demands for dosh and questions annoy him.

worked for Brujah and Toreador

mind you, as a Tremere this run through it got embarrassing taking Heather back to that dump in Santa Monica - I was so pleased when I could upgrade her to the Chantry.

I was gutted when they killed Heather first run through - she has to go before the Hallowbrook quest is accepted or it is curtains. I don't seem able to stay faithful to her - as the blood dolls are so gorgeous. I have made sure that seduction is up high, despite the cost - having those laydees asking for it is most gratifying.

Treat Heather well guys.

You have to choose the words carefully when speaking with LaCriox, u have to be very cooperative and not arguing with any decision he makes. then you will get the skyline apt. If you are not a tremere or a noss..

How about: got the key to apt 4 of Skyline + Heather waiting for me there (she's not in Santa Monica) and the elevator won't work.....

how do I solve that one?

in case I don't of course, that would explain a lot to me

Hmmm... I completed the Dane quest without killing a single cop. I am a Malkavian though, perhaps my problem is not enough of kissing his ass. I would sometimes choose the answers which were kind of funny because we all know that is part of the fun of playing a Malkavian, though I guess restraint is in order with the prince. I just finished the epic of the ankaran sarcopgagus quest and still no new haven from him. Has anyone gotten it later in the game, or should I stop holding out hope?

It seems to come a bit later for some clans. As best as I can figure it out, the Toreador and Venture can get it after the Dane, but many other clans (I've not catalogued which ones, but I believe the Gangrel, Brujah, and Malkavian) don't get it until after visiting Grout's home. Obviously, the Tremere and Nosferatu never get it.

Regardless, you should have it by the time you're sent to the Museum. If not, you probably picked some offensive dialogue choice at some point (though I imagine he would have responded in a way you could identify as negative). Either that, or you caused more of a fuss on the Dane than he would have liked. Anyway, if you've not gotten it by this point, you won't get it.

I played through as Tremere and killed a few cops... so I never got anything from the prince. But the Tremere regant(sp) gave me the downtown room after I did the gargoyal quest for him and Issac in Hollywood.

However as a Malkavian, the prince gave it to me plus money while the regant gave me $500 for destroying the gargoyal.

Tremere and Nosferatu never get the downtown haven. With the Tremere you get the chantry haven if you play your cards right with Strauss (i.e. post-gargoyle if you keep his discretion), and with Nosferatu you get a sewer haven post-Fu Corporation, if you play your cards right with Gary.

I like the one from the Prince best actually, its a large 2 floor with one bedroom, two bathrooms, large kitchen and that wicked cool Fish tank. Plus its very bright, you can clearly see those posters Gary gives you. Nice big flat screen tv, large computer upstairs in the office next to a cool radio.

Anyone notice the magazine subscription on the coffee table? Hooker and the main article is called 10 Easy steps to increase your hourly earnings. Hahaha
