Ankaran Sarcaphogus (Endgame Spoiler)

In game everyone wants the sarcaphogus so desperatelly. But what can they do with it? I mean let's say Jack didn't find it and didn't put bombs in it.What would LaCroix or others do with Messerach's skeleton??? Feed on it?? What kind of a power they could gain by using Messerach?

Thanks..

Seems you've missed the point.
It's not Messerach that people are after. Someone went through a LOT of trouble to let other people think that the coffing is from one of the most powerful vampires that is still alive.
And as explained earlier in the game if you manage to kill a more powerful vampire by draining their last vitality you would gain their power.
That is why LaCroix wants it. To get that power.
The Sabbat wants to get rid of this vampire.
The Kuei-Jin don't like competition and are not going to risk that they might accidentally wake up some really powerful vampire by accidentally opening the coffin.
The Anarchs want to be left alone with no one trying to boss them around. And that coffin represents the possibility of power so they got everyone who wants to boss them around converging on their city. Basically they don't care what happens with the coffin as long as the power it represents can be removed from LA.

Well i really loved the ending, when the sarcophagus opens and there`s no ultra/mega/super/turbo powerfull vampire but just some TNT(or C4 or whatever) and than as you see Jack with that wizened corpse... it brough tears to my eyes(in a good way =] )
Through the whole game you were played to believe that there is some friggin` powerfull thingy in there and that LaCroix will dring his blood and that will be the final boss or something like that...
And when Beckett came to you and said 'Dont open it' he meant it in a good way... for your health =]
I think that he opened it without the key (wtf you need a block of stone to open a bigger block of stone in 21st century...) he played lacroix game and allied(i think so) with Jack/anarchs? and made that LaCroix assasination plan....

Trick or treat?

from the ending, it is implied that it is a set-up all along and that if you choose a faction other than the Anarchs, then you get caught up in the destruction. Early in the game E mentions not wanting to be around "when the jack comes out of the box" - and of course "Jack" is the mentor character that signs the note stuck on the bomb. I did not notice anybody explain how the Elizabeth Dane part was done, but the Prof does allude to the sarcophagus having come to him in an improper manner - so presumably the set-up goes back to before the ED.
by promoting dissention amongst the other factions, the anarchs cause anarchy and Beckett would appear to be an anarch, so far as he fits any group - he takes the p out of LaCroix and must be in on the bomb in the box trick because he changes his mind about opening it and makes sure you know.
at first, I informally sided with the anarchs out of natural inclination, but knowing the ending permutations, siding with the anarchs is the only viable proposition for an independently-minded person who does not want to be completely isolated.
I wasn't quite sure that the mummy was inanimate, but concluded it was.

It might pay to mention that Beckett isn't a Anarch, he generaly disdains anything that even resembles politics, saying that it keeps him from his true calling of searching for the truth, where politics is the art of lies. Also he generaly takes a dim view of the vampire youth... More like a father does to roudy kids then a prison guard to rioting cons...

Also, with some of the Gangrel powers, and the ocassional addition of things Beckett is known to have displayed before, it's possable he found a way to see, sense, smell or detect what was inside the old body box without opening it... Of course, with Fortitude, it's also possable that he could have hung around and let it blow him up and walked out dusting himself off saying "Geeze, that was a little over the top"... But who knows?

The reason I think all this happened is because of Caine. He is the one controlling the whole scenario. He is the one who gave the doctor the info on where to find the sarcophagus. He is the one who made it seem like there was an Antedeluvian in it. After everything was all said and done all of the power players in L.A. were destroyed and you were his puppet the entire time. He tells you a couple of times in the game that "you are controled by the blood of Caine". Why he is doing all of this is just a mystery to me. Also if you couldn't figure ot out Caine was the cab driver in the game.
