| | about humanity and masquarade points Hi guys,
I have just installed the game and have been fooling around with my ventrue character...
I wanted to ask about two things
1-Do the humanity points and masquarede points replenish themselves?Or is it "if you lose one point , that's until the end of the game " type of thing?
2-I was near Asylum, there wasnt anybody around, and I saw a normal person browsing around a alley, so I jumped and fed on him, and suddenly "you have broken the masquarade " headline flashed...I thought that happened when you used your powers in public or when people saw you...Any ideas?
3-My autolevel option was off, but after ı gathered some xp, I saw it had automatically spent them in the "presence" discipline. Is that normal? |

As for Masquerade points, keep these as high as possible as Hunters come for you when they get low; also, throughout the game you can earn Masquerade redemptions which give you a point back if you do deeds which protects vampires.
2. Somebody saw you. It's not just powers, you earn a violation for *anything* supernatural.
3. Err..no not really- are you sure it's off? You didn't assign points and forget? Otherwise it is yet another bug- get the patch

Humanity is a guage of how close to the beast you are. Essentially, your humanity score represents how close to your human nature you remain. So a low humanity means that you've given into the cravings of your beast (your vampiric monster nature). In game terms it just affects how frequently you go into "frenzy" (uncontrollable rage, which can cause you to do wacky things like get yourself killed or break the masquerade). It's generally pretty easy to keep it very high in the game, so don't worry about a humanity hit every now and then. One of these days I'm going to experiment with a low humanity character, supposedly it changes some dialogue options as well.
Anyway, humanity is not used up. You will gain and lose it by committing various actions in the game (i.e. killing a victim by drinking in a non-combat situation will cause a hit, taking the "evil" act in some quests will result in a shift; whereas doing nice/human things will often get you a humanity boost).
2. You've got to be real careful when you feed. Chances are that someone spotted you. When you are seen feeding this automatically results in a Masquerade redemption. This has the possibility of happening fairly often, so just save before feeding if that's your style. Of course, Masquerade Redemptions are not terribly difficult to get either, so its not a huge deal.
3. Chances are you had accidently left the autolevel feature on, or you had spent the point accidently at some interval. If you have autolevel off it shouldnt' change any of your stats (unless you do something to get a free gain in an attribute or skill. There's nothing in the game that results in a presence boost, so this isn't a possibility). Just double check and pay attention to things as you progress in the game. Its possible you've got some weird bug. |

| | | Actually you can only earn Masquerade Redemption points. You can spend experience points on your humanity to fill all the dots however if you wish to spend them. I never found myself earning any humanity back by conversations or quests.
You can also earn humanity points for dancing in a club for over 4 mins I believe someone stated on here somewhere. |

| | | The dancing works. But you can gain humanity from certain quests.. Like the Thinned Blood quest I'm fairly certain... Assuming your humanity isn't already so low that doing the right thing just doesn't seem to be an option any more.

| | | There are a wide range of quests you can gain humanity points from (well, at least some quests). The thinned blood quest, VV's David Hatter quest, the Pain of Being Mercurio, the Hitman Impasse in China Town, dancing for a prolonged period of time, and dealing with the serial killer can all net a humanity gain if dealt with appropriately. There are probably others, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind.
There are few reasons, in my estimate, to spend experience on humanity points unless you've just been a bad bad vampire.

So I guess you're experiencing an odd bug. Though, with some of those quests you can take routes that will give you MR instead of Humanity. |

| | | That could be it because I never once see any little "Humanity point" note to say I got one. Instead all I get is the "Masquerade Redemption" note at the top of the screen when doing the quests. |

| | | Im pretty sure, early in the game, in a hospital or something, there was a girl laying in pain on a gurny and I either gave her pain killers or fed on her, and I received humanity points |

| | Thanks guys for all the tips, especially for the dancing...
By the way Nukester
The girl in the hospital is Heather and you gain humanity by feeding her your blood. In LA downtown she approaches to you, and if you want a pretty girl in your huse you can tell her to wait in your apartment. I alsotold her to change her clothes , and went on to the grout quest. I wonder what type of thing she will be wearing when I return back. Keep in mind she's a fashion designer |

| | I am experiencing the same problem as s.weasel. I have applied the patch to take me to version 1.2 and am currently playing as a Tremere female.
I too have found that I am getting masquerade violations when feeding in the deepest, darkest corner of various alleyways.... but most frustrating is that I am also having my experience points spent automatically when I have definately switched the auto feature off. At first I thought I made an err, but after reloading a saved file, checking my character sheet and then returning to the game I found that as soon as I accumulated 5 points the game was promptly distributing them to my Dominate Discipline. It is driving me crazy. Can any one suggest a fix? |

Feeding Heather your blood to allow her to survive is one. Giving Mercurio some Morphine for his pain is another, and there are others liberally scattered throughout the game. You get a *Humanity Gained* banner when you gain humanity, but you have to be looking for it. Basically, you get Masquerade redemptions for protecting Vampires (like retrieving the Werewolf Blood) and you get humanity redemptions for protecting mortals. With humanity, though, you can increase it through spending XP (a miserable waste if you ask me, but the option is always there).
