| | I have already beaten the game twice (two different characters) and now I'm working on my 3 character/game. I think that TQ has better replayability than Diablo 2 because there are more variations of character builds. My only grief with TQ other than some of its technical problems are how magical items in shops are randomized. It makes no sense to have a magical staff that boosts strenght and I often see other items meant for a spell casting user that boosts strenght.
Also, it would be cool if at level 8 when you recieved the opportunity to select a second mastery that you could opt-out of having a second mastery in exchange for having all skills within your mastery capable of being raised a little higher. Essentially, you'd be specializing in that one mastery.
Anyway, I'm having a blast playing Titan Quest!

| | i just learned that the WHOLE attack speed thing in this game is like a joke made by a mad scientist who wants to conquer the world by creating an army of armored blueberries and infusing them with psiquic powers = ludacris...PLUS u simply can't compete with an Oracle or a Defender, so multiplaying simply sux, solo becomes boring when u find ur char is more or less a mediocre compared with the good ones AND the whole item thingie is all messed up.
Im not playing anymore, and ill wait til the release of Mage Knight and/or Hellgate London and as the songs says:"hoping for the best but expecting the worst" |

| | | If more build options are viable in TQ I'll probably like it more. In D2 you're char was pretty much useless unless one of the more extreme builds were used since a lot of skills were pure crap. |

| | | A lot of the fun in Titan Quest is trying out various combinations of masteries/skills. I haven't been trying to power-develop him to make him some uber-soldiers. Of course, once one plays through the game with every build they want it could become boring. I might play through the epic and legendary difficulties but I'm not going to play it 50 mores times in order to complete an armor/weapon set.

| | | Another Loooooong time D2er weighs in I would say that TQ is the best D2 imitator yet. It's graphics are exceptional. It has tons of skills and items, numerous build options, multiple difficulty levels, online play, trading, you name it. But...
Why is it not addictive? Why is a 50 hours of TQ enough, and 500 hours of D2 a good start?
The first real difference I noticed when playing TQ was speed. It felt slow. I started with a Hunter. My character ran slowly. My character attacked slowly. My character leveled slowly. Game areas were large and took a long time to explore. My character faced hords of monsters and shot them, one at a time. I added skills and items that helped, but not that much. I finally got up to the shrapnel thingy that I hoped would be like an exploding arrow of some kind, and as far as I could tell it didn't do anything at all.
So i built a caster. Soothsayer she was. (Actually I lied. The first REAL difference I noticed between TQ and D2 was that there was only one choice for a female character, and she was as ugly as six miles of mud fence.) Anyway, as a character she was much better to play. She killed fast, and thanks to light armor, -100 to all resists, and my kamakazi playing style she died fast. She has over 500 deaths, but she can also kick Legandary Typhon's butt in less than ten seconds. Great.
So I started collecting items. Muling is a pain. Even with 2 PCs and 2 copies of the game it's still a pain. And now that I have a bunch of Legandary items I still can't find anything that makes me say, "Gee, I need to build a character to use this baby!"
So I tried a Warrior. Slow, walking, slow talking, slow whacking Warrior. Whirlwind is mildly interesting but takes to long to recharge. The other multi-hit skills only fire off occasionally. Even so I'm sure I can make a good one, especially with one of the dozen or so purple shields I have, but after my Leaping, Whirling, War Crying Barb he's as dull as an Oscar acceptance speach.
So I looked for something different to build, and couldn't find it. Whack 'em. Shoot 'em. Zap 'em. that's about it.
So here then is my list of reasons why every D2 imitator to date, including TQ, has fallen short:
1. Character variety: D2 gave you seven unique characters (5 + 2 in the Expansion). They look different. They play different. And for each one of the seven there are at least two and sometimes three or even four highly viable alternative build strategies. Bowazon vs. Javazon. Zealading vs. Hammerdin. Whirling vs. Warcry Barb. The thing that made this work was the fact that you actually had a very limited number of skill points to invest, which forced you to choose a particular path.
2. Item variety: Socketed, crafted, rune worded, etheral, rare, set, unique. Some were so hard to come buy that you would trade everything you had for one. Some builds were only worthwhile if you had the right one.
3. Speed: Questing is ok for the first dozen times through the game. After that you want to get on with the MF runs and leveling so you can try out new builds. Don't make trudge through miles of junk to do it. Gimme a portal and let's team up and do some Baal runs.
4. BNet: As bad as it gets it's still better than anything else around. Easy to chat, trade, and form up a party.

| | | Atm i consider TQ like a baby, its still really new! im sure alot of patches will come and it will make it as good as d2... The only thing they have to add is alot more items! everybody remember the old balrog skin for barbs? or windforce for amazon? it was awsome.. we can say rigged, TQ needs that! and it also needs a better chat system... but all that can be did in one patch...the speed has no matter for me, just more of explosion and special effects thing! isnt it what u all think? |

| | Nah! Titan quest got kind of boring compared to D2
i dont think so!
its +/- same game but:
u can get much more classes, cuz combinations
p.s. i am interesting in 1 thing - did anyone try 1pure mastery?? means until end of legendary campaign, indeed
only worth thing is, that u cant do something like rune words, but still, there is hell load of rare/epic/legend items and sets!!! so no problem without runes
another trouble is, that most of loosers go for overpowered ternions and become bored soon (cuz they only tried something from forums etc. and didnt run around like scouts, whose had to deleted some 1st attempts )

| | | in my opinion (i say this because thats for everyone different), the main drive to collect the best items, is to be able to show off your power to other people, or to be able to help / kill weaker people. The single player is fun, but after you complete legendary, for me that drive is gone. I cant say against my computer: hey, check out how strong my char is! I can kill every monster with 2 fingers in my nose!
That real challenge starts when you play multiplayer, and let that just be the point where Titan Quest missed some vital points, with the main problem: open servers.
Everyone who can play online, has acces to the internet, and all that people can download a character editor which you can find within a minute using google.
While you battle the hard way to level your character, some morr... not so nice person... can join and spoil all the fun in the game with his char with every attribute maxed, all the skills maxed and 3 or more masteries, giving him a summon army that can take down the titan faster then you can type "WTF?"
I dont say that the diabloII MP was free of cheaters, but a lot less then Titan Quest because with TQ, everyone can cheat. Even my granny would be able to make a uber character and kick everyones butt online! But is that fun...? Not in my eyes.
so for me: singleplayer once to legendary, and maybe then a couple of new classes, but after that... back to the old days: waiting untill they announce diablo 3. (or maybe Dark messiah of might and magic will be a good replacement in the meanwhile since i own no console and blizzard has announced to stop producing games for the PC platform (exception: World of Warcraft) and focus on the consoles. |

Not in my eyes. | lol its about ppl, i never understood to cheaters - why are u playing??? cheats are killing all fun/fights and its only for idiots and kids - yeah u can finish game much more faster, u can feel much more uber, but u are real lamer
in my opinion, world started being ass since 2000 with waves of reality shows etc. - ppl are selling their stupidity and stupid ppl are watching, paying, laughing .... but u cant stop time show must go on!!! and inteligent, quite, normal ppl are soooo boring
+i mean, that TQ is long game for succesfull finish (legendary), longer than most of others - and multiplayer is only bonus, but PvP servers? its hard, but i hope that developers etc. will come with some new edited worlds/maps for it (only got 1 feeling - multionline games suck so badly most times - from ragnarok until lineage2... its same like reality show, idiots most times own or dominate, cuz normal/fair ppl arent so sharp/visible, so then many ppl starting cheating too, cuz its only way, how to survive this jungle )
