Titan Quest

Yep, I'm making yet another thread, this time with some egging on from Ravager, among others. This time for a new RPG called Titan Quest. So pretty much I am going to shove all I know into this new thread as I search the web.

Name: Titan Quest
Publisher: THQ
Developer: Iron Lore
Genre: Action RPG
Release Date: 2006?
ESRB: N/A
Platform: PC
Multiplayer Capacity: Yes

Movies: Well, I found the typical movies at IGN, an interview with Brian Sullivan, Preisdent and Lead Designer of Iron Lore Entertainment, which was fairly informative, and also a good series of gameplay scenes from the game as well. Also, there was an IGN insider that I did not have access to.

So far, from what I have read, it seems to be a game that will be taking place through the ages. You will be fighting in many acient landmarks, like the Hanging Gardens, against mystical creatures and monsters, using 1000s of types of unique weaponry. Your main enemy is known as the 'Titans'. You have a class system and a skill system, from what I can see.

The developers of this game have stated that this game is going to run along the lines of Diablo, and appeal to those who played both it and it's sequel. They have also mentioned that the graphics are going to be impressive, compared to past games, which, in my opinion, is a given.

Another feature of the game which is a little nice is that what you see is actually what you get. If you are attacked by a person with a knife, you get a knife. If a person with some armour and a mace, you get the armour and the mace. Nice, compared to other games, such as KotOR, where you could kill 50 sith warriors and recieve a lightsaber. Currently they are also attempting to reach 85 different types of enemies to kill.

The game is coming around due to an apparent lack of hack n' slash RPGs out there. This creators of this game are trying to make a community, from what I can see, much along the lines of Diablo. This is going to have multiplayer possibilities and a world map.

Sorry, I'm doing this as I go, and may revise this into a more polished version in the future, but for now I am going to back up into that little bit I mentioned before, the Titans. The Titans are the gods before the gods (even fable!) that were evil and purged from the Earth in a sense. Now they are back, and they are the ultimate enemy and are a danger to both gods and man. Your typical evil vs. good strategy. Not much more has been turned up... no actual storyline has been created yet.

Back to the multiplayer option... they have mentioned some thngs that greatly interested me. One was the ability to play through the entire epic with your friends. Or you can solo it, or play against or with other players, and from what I hear, even create your own world using the World Editor and bringing your friends on it. There is a seperate campaign, I believe.

Any thoughts on the game, people?

Hmm, seems interesting from what you've written there. I've played a previous THQ game called Summoner (the PC version), that I always liked. If it's as good as that I'd be happy.
In regards to the looting system I think it's the kind of feature that seems nice at the beginning but will eventually lead to you being swamped in useless gear that becomes dull to search through. Especially considering many games of this genre seem to focus on taking out armies single-handedly.

As for the name, that'd be linked to Greek mythology, before the time of gods/goddesses such as Zeus and Athena. They were supposed to be far more brutal than the newer pantheon.

I played Summoner: A Goddess Reborn. I didn't mind that game either. THQ has a pretty good track record. From what I remember, this game is being made in it's current fashion as Iron Lore was looking for a good new game, and they thought the gaming community was being swamped by RTS, such as Warcraft, Dragonshard, ST: Armada, so they decided instead to go ahead and make an Action RPG, as they thought that Hack N' Slash RPGs were disappearing.

Yeah, but perhaps they will limit what you can carry, instead of what they have decided to do with some other recent RPGs.

I know my Greek Mythology too, and from what I remember games such as Gladius and Gladiator got such good ratings because of the basis in fact they had, no matter how far fetched.

Given how late it is for me here, I'll come back tommorrow morning and finsih off what I want to add... which is growing to quite the list.

What else has Iron Lore made (in the RPG department) ???

I liked the looting system in Morrowind, (you get whatever the person is using, just as described here.) But you could only carry so much.

This is (arguably) the worst game I have ever played. If I could sue for "hours of my life completely wasted" I could use this as case evidence. I should have been forewarned: An isometric game that demands nearly the same system specs as Oblivion...
