Question Few questions

Hello, I have noticed few thing playing all day long yesterday :

- I'm playing ranger ( hunter ) type character and holding a bow I have noticed that raising DEX with like 30 had no effect on dmg done. Seems weird to me since bows and spears should be DEX based weapons ?
- drops form 'bosses' seem worse then regular chests. Again seems weird since you can just walk arround opening chests :-)
- can someone explain how + %offence and + %defence modifiers are used in formulas ? Those puzzle me and to be honest I have found most of the modifiers pretty common with nothing extra on them ( I mean to be rarely given )

Yeah, allso bows are VERY slow even with dex 100 !!!! How come ?

Probally because your not a hunter.
You get a skill that increases speed as an hunter.

(and its logical that you cannot shoot an arrow as fast as you can swing a lightsword)

Damage

Well actually I'm a hunter ( Avenger ) experimenting with bow build based on fire enchantments...I'm only worried about base damage not affected by DEX. Will make some notes and will post some numbers later today

The chest treasure may be defined from the very beginning of the game whereas the boss treasure would be more random than that. It may also depend on level.

I haven't played the game yet but did read a few reviews - most of them had issues with loot, in a very negative way, so it is probably that.

Few Tests

I have made few tests using a bow as a weapon :

- puting 9 pts is hunting ( +27 DEX ) had zero effect on dmg done
- have put many items with + %offence ( probably got it close to +100% ) and again zero effect on dmg done. I still have no idea what this offence modifier does but at least seems not directly connected to the dmg.
- I'm playing on normal diff now but still see very very few items that have +dmg modifier, most of them are weapons ofcourse.
- blue items can't be enchanted with relics , but I guess this is normal behavior

Finally I have run into Gorgons crash when I approach the temple I got kicked out. Saw many posts on this happening and tried few 'solutions' with no result, so will be waiting for tommorows fix and if this is still there will probably go back to Oblivion :-)

If you hover your mouse over offense you'll see what it does. I think it affects your to-hit chance and your critical hit chance.

Ar ?

Ok so it is like Attack Rating. This I can imagine but then it is either pretty useless with the bow or not calculated correctly since I always hit, no shot misses ( same with spear ) ...can't judge about critical hits

Loot

There are many issues concerning loot.

With my first character, Conqueror class (Warfare+Defence) I had the Labyrinth (spelling?) set by level 19. On the other hand, my Battlemage has only come across with a single green item (a mace) at 19.

I do recall the Labyrinth dropping from regular chests.

Bosse's loot table might be too randomized.

Dex wouldn't affect damage but it would affect hit chance. Higher dex - higher "offensive ability* and therefore, higher hit %.

Is it me or no matter how low my dex is I always menage to hit evrything? I never saw my conqueror miss something while swinging except if the monster moves out of my reach after the attack has started.
