It's been released, today, in the US. My wife's picking up a copy. Kind of nice to have it handy, since I didn't want to do a lot of thinking on strategy games, not with my allergies acting like a really bad headcold, today. For those who don't recall, Wizardry was the first "CRPG" multi-character party series. (Ultima was the first soloing one.) In the early days, it was nothing more than a series of wireframe walls without maps that you journeyed through with your party. They upped the ante in the last few releases, and this one is supposed to be in full 3D. I've always liked their sense of humor, so it should be fun. Likely to be the last in the series, too. Sir-Tech made some very bad deals with defaulting distributors several years back, and soured on the whole industry. They've been muttering and cursing everyone since then, striking deals that fell through at the last minute by demanding than developers are used to getting. (They were once publishers, too, rather than just the developers, so they're not in the habit of splitting the take with another publisher.)
Whoa! A topic with 0 replies, almost at the bottom of the page! How is this possible here? Who is to blame? Why isn't that topic spammed up yet? How did you manage it? Those are all questions that pollute my mind. I tried creating a topic and force people not to reply, but it didn't work out...
I've been playing Wizardry 8, actually: not bad. It's not the CRPG that BG2 or P:T are--more like an old-fashioned dungeon crawl, but it's very well-balanced, has a fine sense of humor, lots of spells, items, and monster types. Fun for the family. [ 11-17-2001: Message edited by: fable ]
Still haven't been able to find a copy of this game at the retail stores in LA. Anyone got it besides Fable?
