im having trouble running the witcher 2 on my computer its very slow and i cant usr the mouse properly, my spec is as follows dell insp 570 400gb ram windows 7 64 bit sp1 proc amd ath(tm)2 x2 240 processor 2.80 ghz graphics ati radeon hd4200 ive got a feeling its my graphics card letting me down, could someone confirm or help me out thanks
Mainly the video card and to some extent the CPU. The Witcher 2 really likes more cores and having an older x2 doesn't help much.

But since this is a Dell PC, I'm not sure if it's possible to change the CPU because I've heard that it is soldered unto the motherboard. It is possible to change the video card, though.
I have an i5 and a gtx260 and the crappy game auto-defaulted to it's "Ultra" setting. I started the game and it was completely unplayable. Downloaded FRAPS (ran it) and found out why - 9 frames per second standing still at the start of the tutorial. I altered the options (from the launcher for the game, not options from inside the game), from "Ultra" to "Medium" and net about 24 frames per second at the same place. (..which was just barely playable.) I then used this guide for setting the video options more specifically (increasing the quality in certain respects and decreasing in others from the "Medium" setting): http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/witcher-2-tweak-guide I kept the vertical sync but enabled (in the video card settings) Triple Buffering for the Witcher 2. Now I'm getting about 34 frames per second at the same place. It's playable now. Now all I have to do is figure out is which keys to program for my gaming controller (and where to place them). That could take a while as well..
