My game crashed when i tried entering a house at the eastern side of buried village. Thought to myself "no biggie" but then game crashed whenever i tried levling annah up, and now i cant go inside Mebbeths house! Whats wierd is that i COULD go to her house, yet after ive completed her "herb quest" and went back to her house my game crashed. Ive installed everything listed in http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.co.il/2009/01/planescape-torment-fully-modded.html according to instructions. I have a windows vista 32 bit.
I just recently finished playing PS:T gog version using widescreen mod, tweak pack and unfinished business. I had a lot of crashes during area transitions - I think it is a problem with autosaves, as the game saves every time you make a transition, however the autosaves always worked. In some cases characters could not be interacted with, but quicksaving, exiting to the main menu and reloading tended to fix this. I am running Win 7 home 64-bit. I hope you will be able to persevere.
I have this too. Sometimes i cant talk to someone unless i save, reload, and try to talk. If i disable autosave - will i be able to lvl up annah and enter mebbeths house?
I don't know tbh. It might be worth a shot. I never tried disabling the autosave, since I never lost any progress when the game crashed to desktop. You could also try removing Annah from your party and re-inviting her. If it is autosave causing the crash, then disabling it may get you into Mebbeths hut.
I noticed that there was no option in game for that, but you might be able to do it using the config file. Some fora have suggested that the problem may be linked to the quickload option if you are using Quinn's Fixpack. I uninstalled PS:T so I can't easily check if this is the case. The file is likely to be called CONFIG.ini or TORMENT.ini and you should be able to edit it using Notepad. Look for any entry related to autosave and see whether it has a TRUE or =1 next to it and if so change it to FALSE or =0.
thank you for this topic. For a brief moment I thought this problem was related to me changing the language of this game from English to Italian
i believe that's a problem with the widescreen mod - for certain small areas game still assumes that resolution is 640x480, gets into a conflict and crashes. there's a partial solution to this explained in this thread on gog.com (it involves some hex editing), but even with this, the game still occasionally crashes upon area transitions. loading the auto-save, that got created before crash, and then immediately entering transition always worked for me. for unresponsive NPCs, quick saving and quick loading worked.
