He is the main character in so many books these days, that he is immortal. So sad. I wouldn't mind getting rid of him myself... unfortunately, being the main character, he caries the ability to revive himself at will, it appears. :p

I pretty much agree with Koz-Ivan, as the drow are an overused race these days, Drizzt in peticular. I would for once like to see the drow get soundly flushed away for a time.

As for the books, don't worry, they seem to be pushing Jarlaxle now.

Well, at least they shake up Drizzt's morals in the books occasionly. Like in the latest Drizzt trilogy. Unfortunately it does have a happy ending for Drizzt at least. :p
And Jarlaxle is an interesting character IMO, I'm not bothered about the Drow in general, just the renegade good drow disgusted with the drow normal. It's become cliched by now.

IMO the whole drow-consept is over used. The drow belong in the Underdark, nowhere else.

If there are any drow at all in the game they should be completly unrelated to any all ready known groups of drow. But really drow have been used in so many games way to many times. Why not have a refugee camp for a half-orcs? Or atleast something else original.

I couldn't agree more: why don't we hear about half-orcs or tieflings-that-aren't-whiny-bards? These are interesting races that have yet to be fleshed out in book or game because everyone has a fetish for purple elves... Ack am I ever sick of drow...

I like thiefling the most, of all the races. I mean... DEMONIC HERITAGE! Well, I want to see a new D&D hero, who's a thiefling instead of a rotten drow. Imagine, he's travelling between the planes, with a little imp on his shoulder, that'll be so awesome!

Well, to not get off-topic: Drizzt sucks, BIG-TIME!

I don't keep up with the Drizzt novels, nor do I ever plan to. I vaguely know about him, and it was nice to see him crop up in a couple games. No, I don't think he should be a playable character, or have any big role in the supposedly upcoming BG III. If he happens to show his face for a bit, I wouldn't get angry, though.

But they should be introducing more characters, instead of spewing Drizzt all over the place.

Read the books and enjoyed them for what they were, but his cameo in BG2 was thoroughly dissapointing. Like....there I was in Bodhi's lair with 4 hasted party members hacking away at her and her goons. My cleric & mage are way back in the corridor summoning beasties and where is the legendary Drow fighter? Standing next to my cleric & mage!!!!! I'm not gonna carve the guy up, but I do agree that its probably time to hang up the scimitars and maybe take up basket weaving at the home for old heroes LOL.;) ( I hear Conan the barbarians quilting class is also quite challenging  )

Personally, I'd like to see Drizzt kept away from BG 3. I do however enjoy the books (though I find some battle parts rather boring, and sometimes the story just drags on), but if they want to keep Drizzt alive, they need to stop using him, at least for a while. Sure, he's one of the biggest characters in FR lore, and that's pretty cool, but do we REALLY need to see him everywhere? If they keep using him, he'll eventually wear out and not really be that great at all. It's kind of like pie: it's amazing, but too much of it is just sickening. Anyway, Drizzt in BG 3? No, because they need to stop using him. They can use him in future games, but we don't really need to see him any time soon.

All that said, I wouldn't really care if he was around again. I just hope whoever makes BG III (Obsidian or Bioware?) knows what they're doing.
Oh, and Drizzt is the reason I don't play Drow. :D I prefer the classic elf, or at least the more common surface dwelling sub races. CG Drow of any class = cliche.

Kenac has my vote. Give us a surface elf as an NPC, but pleeeez, not a mr nice guy, Im so honourable, goody two shoes kind. Give him some ATTITUDE or a dark secret.

Well that's also kind of cliche. Look at all the NPC's of any D&D based RPG (that inlcudes the KotOR series): at least 1/3 of them are evil or have something to hide. Although the good two-shoes thing would be kind of annoying too. Blech, I'll just sit back and watch them create.:D

I liked Drizzt in the first two games. I never knew about him before I met him in BG so I guess I haven't had as much of him as some of you guys. Having said that I wouldn't really want him in BG III at all. Although if he was it wouldn't make me angry or anything. I do enjoy easter eggs a lot and I hope they keep that going in BGIII. Speaking of Drow, I would like to come across Solaufein from BG2, he was a cool character.

I do think the bashing of Drizzt is a bit over the top, but I do agree that he is getting overused and Drow in general are cool, but something new is needed for BGIII.

I think they were just throwing in random Forgotten Realms personalities for the hell of it in the first game, then made some repeats in BG2. What the hell was the point of putting Elminster in it, isn't he meant to be in Shadowdale?

Salvatore's writtings were pretty over the top, by the third trilogy I was starting to believe he could parry a nuke. He's Deus Ex Machina incarnate.

    Drizzt in BG3? No.

I really don't want to go to the trouble of killing him again :p

I do agree that Drizzt MAY have been over-used a bit. But at least he wasn't in the expantions, unlike YOUR characters. Ending Statements: Drizzt Rules, so TAKE THAT EVIL.

my favourite idea is for BG3 to be a prequel of Gorions story, the only problem is that has to make you a mage.

or (long shot) the story of Serevok....lol

I myself allways play as a Wood Elf Chaotic Good Ranged Ranger. Though good, i'm not allways golden. That's the problem with Drizzt. He's like a golden boy. But we all know that all apples are a bit decayed in some places.
I allways hate characters like that. Thats why I stopped reading such books as Harry Potter, Eragon. They're banal. Like drizzt. He needs some dark past or a secret :).
