You can get the official system requirements here : The Witcher Official Website . Make sure that when you get the game you patch it, because there are some speed & loading issues with the engine itself.

To give you an idea, I'm running it with most settings in medium to high mode, and some of the ground cover and irrelevant stuff turned off, and it still looks fantastic. My system is 4 years old (though the video card is only 2) P4:2.8 GHz with Hyperthread, 1 GB RAM, and a GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 MB, running on XP. A new gaming rig like the one you mentioned shouldn't have any major problems, except the obvious ones.

The obvious problems are a) problems with the game engine itself, b) not everything deals well with 64bit, c) Vista doesn't like games, and d) GT spec cards are the lowest in the Nvida line. If you have the money for SLI, why are you scrimping on the card your putting in?

actually gt are great cards they are better that gts and way better than gs and they dont blow your budget up completely lots of magazines have recommended the 8800gt's as the best combination of power and price

Second that. Below the 8800GT are also the 8300/8400/8500/8600 series, and the 8800GT utilizing newer (G92) technology than the GTS/GTX easily makes it the best value GF at the moment. It also runs at a lower temp than the (now only marginally) higher end GF 8-series cards, which probably makes it a better choice for SLI, where airflow might be a concern.

What comes to your question about The Witcher performance, no matter what kind of spec you have i presume the loadtimes might still be a little on the slow side (a l NWN2), but this will hopefully be fixed very soon in the Extended version which promises 80% reduced loadingtimes

Other than that your system will probably be run the game very smoothly, although i would definitely opt for XP Pro x64 Edition because of general Vista suckage . DX10 is no major advantage (read: you very seldom will be able to tell the difference even in DX10 enabled games) at the moment and will probably come to XP with SP3 soon...

Everything is okay, except the graphics card. The minimum for graphics is either a Geforce 6 or ATI X series. Best to upgrade to a mid-range card in either the Geforce 6 or 7 (ATI X or X1xxx) series line. Can't quite recall if either of those series have AGP versions or not.

Yes. If you look at the link that is provided, that card meets the recommended spec.

Specs

My computer is slightly below the minimum. My pentium 4 is 2Ghz not 2.4. I have one Gig of Ram and an ATI card with 250 ram (X1300). I am able to run the game but the graphics are set on minimum.
