Question Odo's dog

In the prologue, when you complete the "secret garden" side quest and exit Odo's house, you get a cut-scene w/ Odo's dog. Geralt says "what are you protecting?"

Is this a hint that there's something else in this area? I've been all over this part of the map and can find nothing.

That cut-scene screams at me that I'm missing something....

After get that cut-scene, I went back to the road and then saw the Beast. I think that the Odo's dog was having some contacts with the Beast. (Like they're talking)

That was my initial thought as well. The part that bothers me (as I mentioned earlier) is the fact that in the cutscene he says "protecting", which, in my mind, hints at something more.

I've skimmed through a few walkthroughs and hint guides, finding no reference to this, which leads me to the conclusion that it is not significant in anyway and is only misleading.

I admit, that bothers me somewhat. Oh well.. time to keep on goin'.

It is just a hint - to nudge you toward the idea that something isn't right here, something is not what it seems. At least that is the Designers' Plan. The players are supposed to become intrigued, here. Some players become intrigued alright and start digging for more clues. They click on the ground, click on the doghouse, click on the dog etc. Nothing. So, the players say, "Screw it!"
Actually, the answer is "revealed" in the end of chapter 1 - and we will never know how Geralt guessed the right answer.

Odo's brother is burried there. You can't dig him out. It's for story purpose ( Odo's dog was also his brother dog ) His brother was a good man so he can lie dead peacefully and the dog is a good dog because he is protecting the body and it's why beast can't change him into one of these dogs you must fight. You see that all other dogs are dead or are daying.

in the doghouse

I suspect there was originally something more going on here that got cut in later stages of game design. Perhaps an artist-drawn cut-scene that showed Geralt digging up a body. Budget constraints and time impose all sorts of cutbacks that we never notice, maybe this scene was not important enough to pay the artist for.

I did spend some time trying to blast over, then burn down, the doghouse round the back of Odo's house (without success of course), to find out if there was anything significant in it.
