Game Crash

I am at the end of Ch. III (i think) in trade quarter. The game crashes every time i enter the salamander base.... no exceptions. I've reloaded, loaded a past save and come back, everything. Can't go any further it crashes out every time. I use vista, so of course the game crashes very 40 minutes or so anyway but this is the first time it has crashed at a specific point every time. anyone have and overcome this problem?

Using Vista, I've had no crashes of significance, so you can't really blame it on the operating system like that.

My immediate suspect would be the disc (faulty disc), the installation (corrupt file) or the harddrive (problems reading installation) which causes these problems.
Also - try to upgrade the game if you haven't already. I know a patch exists, which perhaps could solve it.

I suspect the audio drivers. Update them to the latest. Should be able to solve the problem. If not, try to lower the sound acceleration at the DXDiag menu. Usually, an update should be enough to solve the problem, though.
