Friendly vodyanoi priest

I'm in chapter 4 now and I'm supposed to get a gift from the priest, but he never seems to be at the altar. I have tried meditating and going back to the altar at different times, but he's not there. Is he dead? Do I need to start the game again?

Try doing some more quests around the areas.
The same thing happen to me, and I waited a long time in the game. Then I did some quests around the surrounding areas, and then suddenly he reappeared.

Aye, he just seems to come back when you're about done in this chapter. I'm not at all sure it helps, but the story does suggest another thing. Try slaying all the dagon worshipping vodyanoi.

But only at specific times in the quest, cause I had the same issue. He wouldn't show until I had completed a good number of the side-quests in the areas.

You know, you are right....this is my third play through and it has worked out that I killed the hostile vodyanoi in the fields while I was there on the Mayor's quest the second and third times and he appeared right on cue after clearing the beach, but the first time I had problems getting him to appear, this might be part of the reason.
