Which race is suitable for pure destruction wizard?

I am a new player of Oblivion, i had chosen Dark Elf with The Lover. Is is okay to be a pure destruction wizard

I don't know but I'm playing a dark elf nightblade and using mostly destruction with blade when mana runs out. A few long duration buffs from alteration and restoration too.

Thanks for your experience. Cos Dark Elf seems a combination of warrior and wizard. So, i am now finding a way to enhance the Dark Elf's characteristics with master skills and class . And a further question i would like to ask which kind of weapon is suitable for Dark Elf wich master destruction?

I like a weapon with a good bite but not so heavy that I can't carry treasure. And during a long battle if you block a lot with a two handed weapon and hit with it it wears it down double. Kind of I guess, because it takes fewer hits to kill and the weapon has more durability so it is balanced.

But I like a high quality dagger or shortsword. If I can get my strength up or loads of gold I will carry more or only valuable gear and then have a longsword.

Shield adds a lot of armor too. And in my mod 2 handers hit extra hard but are slow.

Dark Elves are good for most builds, but don't forget about High Elves for pure caster. They get the fortify magicka ability as do Bretons for that matter. And both get bonus' to to the spellcasting skills.

Dark Elves start out with the highest Destruction bonus, but if you want alot of mana go High Elf although they are very weak to it they will be able to cast spells longer. But i would say Dark Elf would be the way to go
