Thieves Guild Quest Problem :s

hye, i'm in the middle of the thieves guild quest Taking care of lex -->http://www.gamebanshee.com/oblivion/...gcareoflex.php

I have a problem with the lettre i need to let forged, i have it and all, i gave it to the strange guy, the forger, he sayd that i should come back in 24 hours, when it's finished, i have tried, but when he saw me he's sayd don't intterupt me, when i open conversation, he sayd, you're bothering me, en when i ask about the letter he says why are you bothering me it isn't finished yet, now gow out so i can finish it, i went to wait again, still the same, now i left country, slept and waited for like 10 weeks and when i ask him about the lettre he still says it isn't fnished yet : ???

i had the same problem. I waited days and days and he kept saying i was bothering him. so i cheated. i used the player.additem (forged list of candidate's item #) 1 console command. That added the list to my inventory. It didn't update my quest though so I couldn't go to the next step of sealing it. After I had it in my inventory I talked to the Stranger again and he had finished it (for some reason it worked only after i already had it by cheating). So now I have 2 (you can't drop quest items). The problem is, don't think you're all good once you have it. Cause I went to use the seal and it does nothing. I can't pick it up, I can't use it...nothing. So now I'm stuck again. I cheated and used the additem command to give myself the Imperial Legion Seal but it's useless. If I drop it on the ground I can't pick it back up or seal the list.

So pretty much...we're screwed. I've just given up on Theive's Guild quests and am trying to do little quests like the Shadowbanish wine one or the Nirnroot one. Give up on the theive's guild quests, my friend.

Ya i had the exact same problem. What I did is that i waited for 24 hours in his house and he didnt let me have it. Then i went about with my business and waited for 24 hours outside of his house. Then i went inside and he gave it to me. So maybe, wait in house then go about ur business for a day or so then go find him. If that doesnt work i dont know waht to tell u. Good luck.

If you're on PC, try this console command:

player.setstage TG07Lex 40

(Spoiler: will give you the forged letter and unlock the seal. )

If that doesn't work, try this:

player.setstage TG07Lex 50

(Spoiler: will give you the sealed letter so you can take it to Countess Umbranox in Anvil.)

If you're on 360, all I can suggest is to try tristan0606's advice.

EDIT: yea that worked alright. updated the quest and then i had to use the additem cheat again to put the sealed list in my inventory but it seems to be working now. i was able to deliver the list. thanks again for the assistance.
