Order of the Virtuous Blood (need a minor spolier)

I tried to do a forum search on this one and came up blank.

I am just starting the Order of the Virtuous blood quest by searching the house of Rolene Jensen (sp?). I am supposed to search for clues as to his whereabouts, but have had no luck so far. I have looked in every chest and every room in the house, and picked up and read every scroll and flyer. I did notice that the carpets in the basement looked stained (blood?) but I can't interact with them. What am I missing?

Look more closely at the books on the table on the first floor. SPOILER there should be a note from his late lover among the books.

i know i am not answering his question but if you would like the order quest to become more intresting, lengthy,have better items, and better events in the future highlight this:do not kill Rolen. talk to him and it will spark a whole new quest. you will find it quite intresting what he has to say.
