Bruma Mages recommendation(spoiler)

I spoke to the head of the guild to activate the quest which involved finding another mage who has disappeared. I spoken with the other two mages at the guild but they dont seem to be giving me any clue to what I am suppost to do, I even accidently bump into chap I am looking for as he is invisable but he just told me to go away. I feel like I am trap in a cycle with the charactors, what am I missing.

there is a male character inside the guild (there are more than 3 mages wandering around the guild at one time of day or another), when you ask him about the missing guy he should offer to tell you where he is in exchange for doing something else for him. The fact that yoy already know where the missing guy is but he keeps telling you to get lost may seem dumb but it does make sense once you are told the whole story.

I found the guy I needed to talk to downstairs in the living quarters. He'll tell you what you need to do. It's rather easy, this rec.
