a question about enchanting (spoilers)

ok call me stupid...it took me 3 hours to learn how to drop items (i found the way only by readin the manual...)
but after hours of play i still can't enchant objects
i mean...i know i have to go to the academy...but...it's closed...at day and also at night
ther's some other way to enchant objects? and if not...how the *#@* do i get in there? do i have to join the mage guild?

The only way to enchant is in the academy. To gain access to the academy you have to jon the mages guild and do mission after mission for the guild halls spread through out Cyrodill until you are granted access to the academy.
