| | | You have to cast the spell Soultrap on an enemy monster (NPC's don't work) and then kill that monster within 60 seconds. If you kill him within that time, then you will trap his soul in a soul gem. Obviously, you need an empty soul gem first. |

| | | Is this a bug?
I kill the beastie first (Nix Hound, Cliff Raver, etc), THEN cast Soul Trap on it's body and it works.
However, When I try to do that after killing something more powerful (that slaver who sold me Rabinna the slave), it doesn't work.
Now, I have been atrributing that to my woefully low magical skills (between 5-12 for all of them).
Can you trap any monster @ any level magical skill by casting the spell beforehand? |

| | | Different souls determine the number of charges on the item. The most powerful souls with allow you to create constant effect enchantments.
To trap a soul you need to:
Cast soultrap on the mob and kill it before the spell wears off.
Have the proper type of empty soul gem on you.
It only works on monsters, not humanoids. If you cast soultrap on a humanoid you get the message "your spell did not get a target." |

| | | And how about actually enchanting the item? I tried, and it said I didn't know any enchantments. |

| | | You have to buy enchanting scrolls for the relevant weapon that you want to enchant. |

| | | that's really odd. never seen that. but, if it works, cool. i think the normal way that spell is supposed to work is:
1. cast it on monster
2. kill it within 60 seconds
one interesting note: i think golden saints can dispel a soultrap on them. i thought i wasnt casting it correctly but found out later by watching them closer while fighting them that she can stop fighting at some point and cast a heal-like spell on herself. it removes the soultrap cloudy ring around her. neat |
