| | | make a spell or item that will boost int to 100...go back, and cast before each train....you cannot train beyond your attribute numbers... but a temp boost will work...however, unless you make it constant effect, you have to recast before each train, cause the session lasts 2 hours...

| | | Because even with enchant 100, intelligence 100 and luck 100 you'll still fail more then half the time at even 45 enchant points on an item. Basically, you'll never be as good as the shopkeeper enchanters. What the enchant skill is good for mostly is having your items use less charges when used. At low enchant levels, items drain -very- quickly. At high enchant skill levels, charges last a good long time. |

| | Constant effect enchantings work almost 100% if you make a couple of potions which raise your intelligence and luck to over 1000 both. There is a good list of ingredients for making such potions at http://morrowind.vvv.tf/ , just drink as many as needed. (still need enchant very high, though)
The other option, which I found is best, is to give some shopkeepers more money in the Construction set. For example search Ajira under NPCs, rightclick her name, choose edit, and in this window there is a button called "AI". When I have an item with 50k worth in gold, I just sell it to let the enchanter do the work for me ;P

Well, go here then to get you started as an alchemist : http://www.bullhonkie.com/morrowind/alchemy_faq.php

Even then, you'll still fail more then half the time if you try to fill one of the really "big" items, like a daedric tower shield. Artificially raising enchant seems to help as well, but isn't as easy as massively raising int and luck. |

| | I agree with CJ. Enchanting the small stuff is fun early on, but you just can't compete with the professionals.
The best 'enchanting skill' in the game is:

| | | S_S and CJ my character has a middling enchant skill with a decent 70ish int. About what would be the expected chance of making a constant effect item I have tried dozens of times and never made a single one. Even when trying to do something as simple as feather 2 constant effect on a daedric tower shield. If its so darn hard to make constant effects should i just relegate constant effects enchants to the NPC's? |

| | There are ways to 'cheese' enchant (fairly) well ... UserUnfriendly knows a lot about this ... , but (based on some advice CJ gave me a while back) I've long since resigned myself to the fact that as an enchanter I'll never even get close to what can be made by the NPCs; not to mention the artifacts that can be found in the game.
Even the 'staple and sundry items' of Morrowind adventuring (ie. Waterwalking, Levitation, Water breathing, Light, etc. rings and such) I simply let a pro enchant for me. It's cheap to let 'em make the smaller 'toolkit' items anyway. If you're looking for a RP hook for this behavior, just consider the monetary value of the soulgem you waste failing to enchant something .

| | | With a typical starting luck score, you need pretty much enchant 100 and int 100 to have a good shot at making your own constant effect items. If you build a really high luck stat, your odds improve significantly, even with less int and enchant. |

| | | Good point about the staple items I have come to realize you pretty much need at later points in the game a good set of gear that has constant effects of night eye, feather etc. So I guess the only real benifit to high enchant skill is haveing the ability to recharge items quickly and use less charge when you use items which isnt that bad a benifit after all. Not sure if this has been asked before but can you scribe your own scrolls? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
