The Aesthetics of Ebony Armour

I am presently working my way through the ranks of the fighter's guild, and because I started off as a mage sporting light armour and a short sword, this is taking some effort. I could, of course, pay for training but that isn't nearly as satisfying, so I went off and paid a little visit to a certain manor... Somehow while I was there a set of daedric greaves and an ebony cuirass mysteriously found their way into my pack

Now I have to say, while I find daedric armour quite stylish (the greaves especially), I really do not consider ebony armour to be very visually appealing. I realise it has an excellent enchant value, but my character looks like an oversized bumble bee in her new cuirass... thankfully I have the whole mess concealed by a robe

So what do people think, is it just me that finds ebony armour to be distinctly unattractive?

I think ebony armour looks very good. I like the gold(ish) patterns that adorn the breastplate and greeves, it looks very good on Dunmer I think, for example the Duke in Ebonhart who wears a set.

Hmmm... well it could be race thing too, as I recall that Duke does look better in it than my Breton

I think the cuirass could be improved on, but for the most part I'm so-so with it. The closed ebony helm, however... Notice the full set of ebony armor makes the character appear bulking huge, but the closed helm gives the appearence of a tiny tiny head. I just can't wear a full set - I'd go Daedric.

lol! Well I'd go fully Daedric too, except that from what I gather finding the pieces can be quite difficult unless you are prepared to slaughter those wearing them, which I try to avoid...

Well, I usually play a ruthless pilager for a character, so once Delta Fyr caught me stealing and attacked, her father soon followed.

But you're right - it's the hardest set of armor to get all the pieces to in the game without resorting to cheating. To this day I have yet to find either a left or right Daerdric pauldron.

Hahaha - DW, you ARE funny. bumble bee indeed. I was just thinking maybe you have the contrast turned up a little too high on your monitor. In my game, the ebony just has a nice dark gold look to it. Though I DO like daedric better, yes... I think the helms in the game are what make or break the general look of the armor. ha! Tiny, tiny head, yes. And what's with the chitin helm? Just a little bug-face. Actually, I hate most of the helms so much, that I usually just go without one, or I wear netch leather. Don't wanna cover up that pretty face, I guess.

Hmm.. I may try turning the contrast down a bit. lol! I *never* wear helmets, I hate headgear generally, even when I play RPGs. Plus, I use Rhedd's heads (sorry, I know you have an XBox ), so it seems a shame to cover up the lovely work of that mod.

About the only helm I like is the Indoril one.. but wearing that can get you into trouble in some areas

Talking

lots of alternative armors out there...

http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthrea...at=&Board=UBB7

it sure seems like someone releases a new armor every day...

it seems to me like ebony is closer to classical roman armor...with some greek touches...i seriously prefer shiekizza's medium daedric, or some of the more exotic stuff..

mxied up

Ebony armor ticks me off, i only like it when i get to seel it and be rich, hehe. but then i dotn really like any full set of armor, in fact lately i dotn even wear helmets either because my armor is high enough to where i dont really need it... anyways i always mix with my armor, starting formt he bottom up. boots of blinding speed, glass greives, fists of rangulf (sometimes wraithguard), curiass of the saviors hide, Hands of Amlexia Pauldrons, and if i wear a helmet, the mosque of clavius vile. someitmes i wear 'mantle of woe' inside because it looks cool and i like to conjur up armies of minions. ebony stinks... grrr but it looks like i will ahve to get it for its enchant value... aaaahhhh.

I prefer wearing Daedric myself, or if the mood hits me, only clothes . I generally don't wear any helmets as they usually look stupid, though I must say that the Hllalru (sp?) guard armor is quite pleasant aesthetically, so I occasionally kill a guard and wear that , but it beats storing a set or carrying it around.

If you are wearing armor based on looks then I would choose Bonemould or Ebony, also glass is appealing! They look the coolest. I myself only wear two pieces of daedric armor, the feather greaves and my Illuminous Boots (Night-Eye: 25 points). My equipment consists of the Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, Dragonbone Cuirass, Eleidon's Ward, High Ordinator Pauldrons, Left Fist of Gandulf, Wraithguard, Daedric Greaves (Feather: 50 points), Illuminous Boots, Aeslip's Ring, Marara's Ring, Necromancer's Amulet, and the Robe of Drake's Pride. How's that for variety! It may look a little strange, but it sure makes me strong.

Spoiler:

If you wan't any piece of daedric armor the main wizard in Tel Fyr who has a full set of it except for the helm. Helm can be found on someone in the tower of dawn in ghostgate or in a cave somewhere near the urshilaku camp.

i think Royal gaurd armor has to be the best i think the helm looks good too ice armor would have to be a close 2nd with glass and daedric in 3rd and 4th

i wish i could wear Hooded robes or hooded capes would be nice to take the place of helms and to cover up horrible armors like orcish chittin netch and indoril.
