spell absorption

So, with the Necromancer's amulet you get 25 SA and with the Athronarch sign another 50 SA combining a total Spell Absorption of 75.

Doesn't that help a lot against spellcasters? Like, a brute with 75 SA is pretty a tough opponent against any mages...am I right or right?

Well.. i am not sure becuse iu havent played in some time and i have more important things in my mind... so i might be wrong..

Well that thing just brings you more mana... you will take whole damage.. but 75% of mana needed to cast that spell will be yours..

So if enemy mage would cast spell on you wich would cost 100 mana points.. you would get 75 mana to yourself.. but you would be affected by that spell..

Resist Magicka and Reflect can prevent spells..

But i am not sure..

I think if you absorb the spell you take no effect and you get all the magicka. Basically 75% chance of absorbing and taking no effect and getting all the magicka, 25% chance of full-effect. IIRC

Jopperm is right 75 Spell Absorb means that you have a 75% chance of absorbing incoming spell. I think there is a way to get this to 100% in which case you will be invulnerable to all magick spells.

I'm not sure about 100% Spell Absorption, but you can combine the Atronach, Necromancer's Amulet, and the Cuirass of the Saviour's Hide which equalls 75% Spell Absorption + 60% Magicka Resistance.. Pretty cheesy though, this combination makes you essentially invulnerable to magic.

And yes, Spell Absorption does mean you don't suffer the magic damage. Even at 50% it is pretty good.

Yeah, I think you're right.. The resistances don't stack, they are figured separately. So it's 50% absorpsion, then if it gets past that it checks again for the 25%..

I think she's saying the opposite: resistances *do* stack. And that's correct.

So if you have two 50% absorbs you are 100% immune?

Edit: instead of the 75% that the odds would work out to otherwise.

If they are 2 stackable 50% absorbs then yes you would have immunity.

Sometimes you can stack em sometimes you can't depends on what you have. For example if you cant 2 spells that do the same thing but with different magnitudes then the highest one would override the low one. But if you have some from being an Atronach and some from items then they would stack.

It also helps that it's been periodically repeated here and in several other forums over the last couple of years.

Well, I can't say that I've exactly looked for it.
