She probably dispelled your soul trap spell. They have that ability. If you watch the golden and see her stop and cast a spell where nothing seems to have happened its her dispelling the soul trap spell you cast on her. You need to be ready to recast soul trap in that case. Or enchant a weapon with cast-on-strike soul trap and use it only for the finishing blows. Put it in a quick slot, attack the golden with you favorite weapon and when she's almost dead switch to the soul trapping weapon.
