Solstheim: What do I do now?

I am stuck on the Earth Stone Ritual quest (for Skaal). I go in, tap the stupid stones (with and without weapon, fists, everything) and nothing happens. no journal update, no change in the music. nothing. What do I do?

You have to tap out the melody correctly.

I did. It doesn't work. I'm thinking maybe my disc is damaged.

Try searching for 'skaal earth stone'...

Maybe you're musically challenged...

You realize it's the actual tones produced by the stones and not the physical order that you have to follow...

Arm yourself with patience and listen carefully, I'm sure you'll get it.
Also, there are 2 melodies being played... imitate them step by step.

Not only are the tones important but timing seems to be an issue as well...It seems you need to tap out the tones exactly as you hear them(that includes the spacing between tones).It took me abot 16 tries....just be patient and eventually you'll get it...oh...and pay no attention to the steam coming out of the top....it does not indicate the order and will definately screw you up.
