Does it do anything?

I've got this huge fort in the middle of nowhere, with it's very own eggmine... But what's the point? Do I get income from it, or something?

Of the strongholds, Telvanni at least looks neat. The others really don't add much.

If you're playing on the PC, there are various mods you can add that expand the functionality of different strongholds. You might check up on PlanetElderScrolls, and search their Morrowind mod database on "stronghold."

I suggest breaking into the houses in it and robbing them blind. Mine had good stuff.....

The stronghold is basically your house so you can do whatever you want with it. Some people decorate them with artifacts and items they find, some use them purely for storage, some don't use them at all. I personally use mine as a base, use items to personalise it a bit and also set up a display area for all my enchanted weapons etc.
