Question Mods that have profoundly altered your MW Experience

Yesterday I did a complete reinstall because several of the mods I use have been updated, and I wanted to take advantage of them. I also decided to install Necessities of Morrowind, along with Children of Morrowind.

I really wish I had installed both of these mods much, much sooner. I just can't believe the difference they make to the game. It is suddenly so much more immersive. All of those previously useless bottles, for example, now have a purpose. And, needing to be conscious of how much food I'm carrying is not the annoyance I thought it might be, it actually really highlights much of the realism already present in the game. Similarly, I really like that I need to use a bed to sleep in, and thus must have a bedroll in my pack while travelling in the wilderness.
At one point in Suran, my character needed to rest. I was in the smithy's shop, and it was rather fun to sneak upstairs and borrow his bed for eight hours

Seeing (and hearing) children hopping about and playing is also huge in diminishing the often sterile environment that the Morrowind world generally projects.

Any similar experiences with mods?

Some of the better housing mods, especially those that have display cases and bookshelves; also, book and item rotate mods. Suddenly, books aren't simply worth reading on the spot, because they'll just collect in odd stacks on the floor. You can now collect them, and much the same is true of weapons, armor, etc. You can even redecorate places. Adds a whole new dimension.

For me it would be Better Bodies and the many head replacers. Looking back at the hideousness of the original models I realize why I always played first person perspective (which is not the case any more)

Also Morrowind Comes Alive for a similar reason as Dragon_Wenches selection of Children of Morrowind. It breathes some life and unpredictabilty into the game.

( I couldn't Children of Morrowind to work - I might try it again in the future if only to be able to run round and bludgeon the little darlings to death ).

Nah, the mod doesn't really allow you to do that. All kids in MW are capable teleportspell-casters.

Back on topic: Childeren of MW and Morrowind Comes Alive. The Less Generic NPCs Projects. Also, some of the mods that add animals like Abot Water Life, Cait's Critters and so on. Real Signposts.
Those are all quality mods that add more life and realism to Morrowind. Without them, MW is a good game. With them, it's a really fine gaming experience.

Where's the fun in that

Back on Topic: I forgot to mention all the mods that tweak Thieving skills, like Light Based Sneaking and Trap Difficulty which make playing as theif a much more realistic experience

I'm dying to try those. Except that I've come quite far with my current thief and I don't want to start yet another game.

They certainly make playing a thief more realistic, your chances at sneaking are higher at night/foggy weather, no sneaking round in heavy armour and security becomes a worth while investment as Open spells are penalised in some manner that I can't entirely remember off the top of my head.

Another addition would be the many fine companion mods that make adventuring in morrowind a little less lonely

In my opinion the Marksman Mod has done the most impact. Now it is really worthwhile to start using bows and other projectile weapons.
