| | | Perhaps you could give us some more details. What mods have you tried installing? What archive format did they use? And where did you dearchive them?

| | For me, the easiest way to install mods is to install 'em into dummy directories. Then, I move all the appropriate folders that have been created into their proper Morrowind locations. Most (but not all!) need to be drag-and-dropped into the data files subdirectory.
But I think you might want to go to this site, and check out his section on Installation Tutorials. Read one of 'em, at least.
Also, I suggest downloading the Tes Plugin Tool. Be sure to read the documentation. You'll want at the very least to consider using the Clean and Manage options.
Hope these help.

| | Well, if you're installing "different mods" whose files won't show up in their correct places, the logical conclusion is...the files aren't in the correct places. Either that, or the archive is missing files, and I haven't heard of any problems with that particular mod. Hence the suggestion to check a tutorial on installation. I thought I could manage without one some time ago, and made mistakes. So I read a very good one up on the site I linked you to. I'm now running 200+ mods without any problems.
But if you know better, I wish you the best of luck.

| | | Yep. If this is one of Rheddhead's head replacement archives and correctly installed, then the ESP files should all be in the data files subdirectory, and you should have a blank checkbox for each one when you launch Morrowind.

| | There are some useful tips for mod installation here: http://rethan-manor.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=240
This was written by Emma, one of the modders at the above site, I have found it to be an excellent method for installing mods: Since a long time back, I never worry about how mods have been packed or zipped and where and how they should be extracted. I have found that this strategy prevents all problems, and seems to be foolproof (please correct me if I am wrong):
a) Create a subfolder on your desktop.
b) Unzip the mod to the sub-folder.
c) Doubleclick on the sub-folder.
Inside, you will find one meshes folder, one textures folder, one icons folder and an esp-file.
Take the meshes folder and DROP it into your Morrowind datafiles directory. It will automatically MERGE with your existing meshes folder (which will guarantee that all meshes ends up at the exactly correct places). You will get a message concerning this from the computer, say OK.
Now, take the textures folder and DROP it into you Morrowind datafiles directory.
Now, do the same with the Icons folder.
Finally, place the esp-file in your Morrowind datafiles directory.
That's all. You are ready to play your new mod.

| | | okay, Ive got it working now, wuuhuu....
but in some of the mods it says that I should put it in the morrowind/data files folder, but there are more than one data file folder, so which one is it?
Ive only been able to get two mods working, dont know what Im doing wrong with the other ones...

| | | There should only be one data files files folder.. Unless in the process of extracting one of the mods simply dumped itself into wherever you are putting it, instead of auto-extracting into the correct subfolders. Some mods, inside their zipped package, do contain a folder simpy laballed "Data Files," so this is what may have occurred.
You need to check each of the folders and explore its contents. This should help you to determine which is the correct one.
It is because of confusion like this that I prefer the method I posted above, it really simplifies the entire process.
Note:
It is extremely important that you make back up copies of both your Data Files and you Save games prior to installing any mod. That way, if after play testing you find some significant problems with the mod, you can easily place the original Data Files and Save Game folders back into you Main Morrowind Directory. Much more hassle free than trying to clean your game or having to reinstall it.
This process is especially important with mods that add new textures, meshes, icons, sounds or music.

| | Good to hear it is working now
Check the mod sticky at the top of the main Morrowind Forum page
You can also do a Google search.
There are mods to improve various textures in the landscape, clothing, books, potions... lighting.. You name it, it is probably out there.
There are two mods to improve the bodies, "Better Bodies," and "Smoother Bodies." There are pluses and minuses to each. Better Bodies is basically seamless, and there are many clothing mods that support it.
However, it can be a real drag on your framerate in some areas, so if you have an older machine this is a consideration. Also, Better Bodies makes, the physiques in the game more voluptuous.. which may or may not be to your tastes.
With Smoother Bodies you can still wear any of the original clothing, and they are built upon more slender physical lines, it also does not create a huge hit to your framerate. However, the lines are not as perfect as "Better Bodies," and there are fewer clothing mods that support it.
Good mod sites to get started in: http://www.mwmythicmods.com/telesphoros.htm http://mwsource.com/center/pafiledb.php http://www.tesmods.net/index.php http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/modcontrols/mods.asp http://www.thelys.org/index.php
