mage's guild problem

i've done all the balmora and ald'ruhn duties,solved the disapearance of the dwarves,skink in tree shade(sadrith mora) wont give me duties till i advance to wizard.now here's the problem no one advances me even though i've done all the duties for that rank.the boss i vivec wont advance me either and just says he will give me duties 'after the recent troubles have passed' and i've benn waiting for ages.is this some kind of bug?

do you meet the requirements?? as in do you have certain skills over the required amount?

check your skills list and scroll down and move your cursor over the mages guild in the factions section. you see how much your skills have to be in order to be able to reach the rank of a wizard, IE one skill at 60 and two skills at 30 and so on..

To become wizard you need a staff thing, go talk to Skink In trees shade and try to advance at him and he shoudl sell you one, then you can talk to trbonius about "archmage" and challenge him to a duel, the winner will be archmage

i did what both you guys said still nothing.i really begiing to think this is just one major bug.

Which mage bosses have given you tasks that you performed, and what is the reply you get from each?

when you click the "advance" choice, what do they say?

#1is it that you meet the requirements but just haven't performed enough duties to be promoted. OR

#2You've done enough duties to gain the rank of a wizard, but you just don't meet the requirements. ??

if it's #1, you need to do more duties(the dunmer woman dressed in blue in the balmora mages guild should give you some duties, although i don't remember how high you have to be to get her quests)

#2 you need to have higher skill levels in skills that involve magic using(IE destruction, alteration etc.)

well they all say i dont meet the requirements but i do.e.g.need destruction skill at level 30 when my destruction is about two or three times that.I,ve done the duties for both Ranis and Ajira in Balmora,Edwinna in Ald'ruhn,Skink in Sadrith Mora says i should come back when i am a wizard,the boss in Vivec just keeps talking about the disappearance of the dwarves and that i'll get duties after the recent troulbles have passed (even though i've been waiting for months).

you can solve the disappearance of the dwarves, i did by accident when i was completing the main quests.

If they say you don't meet the requirements, you simply don't, you need one skill at IE 50 and TWO(2)skills at 30 or smth like that, one skill isn't enough, check the requirements and then check if you truly have like restoration/alteration or whatever is required over the second requirements
