Smile interesting character...

i was thinking of a custom class to create and all the ones i thought up werew very close to the pre-made classes. except this one. i dont like haveing to get into town everytime im hurt, need repar, whatever. i decided to make a character described as a < Hermit > or a < Trail Guide>. this character is designed to be able to survive on his own. this is my custom character:

Specialize: Combat (he is made for battle)
Race: Nord (for resists)
Sign: Ritual (free heal and you can kill all the bad ghosts easily)

Main attributes: Strength and Intelligence

Major:
Armorer (free repair armor/weapons)
Alchemy (free potions)
Security (mainly for traps)
Medium Armor (good defence and flexibility)
Axe (seemed like an "outdoorsy" weapon; plus, nord has a bonus to it)

Minor:
Unarmored (just incase something happens)
Hand-to-Hand (just incase something happens)
Acrobatics (he has to be able to climb)
Marksman (very useful in most cases)
Athletics (when i made, i restircted silt strider use, so he must run fast)

i have been using him and he CAN survive on his own...just thought id share

Sounds cool... but you miss all the fancy spells... especially conjuration. I think conjuration is GREAT and I think it'd fit u're character good cause he doesn't like town but he'd have pets for company and bound weapons and armor in case something happened to his original ones.

It's GREAT that I started with a conjurer cause in this game I wouldn't know what to do without it plus it fits in with RP'ing alot of classes. Just maybe not a paladin type.

It TOTALLY fits in with the character I'm playing now in which he got in a horrible accident as a kid which left him with having to get a fake eye and have a pretty scarred face. He's pretty much shunned by society so he turned to necromancy and is a hired assassin to pay the bills and let out his aggression towards society in general.

He normally is hated by all but the most evil but using his charming spells in certain cases he gets what he wants

I think the trail guide / hermit sounds like a fun character. I would change a couple things though. I would definitely move Marksman up into Major skills...even starting at 15 is tough with a bow IMO, you just have to start with 30.

I personally would probably move the primary melee weapon and armor skills of axe and medium armor into Miscellaneous skills. Why? because I find that your primary melee weapon skill and armor skill tend to go up pretty darn fast no matter whether they're major, minor, or misc. Sure they start weak in misc, but kill some of those crabs and stuff and it starts improving very rapidly. Putting those skills in Misc saves slots in major and minor for other skills that are harder (or at least slower) to advance in. I love how you have alchemy and security in Major.

Tack, you know any character can use and advance in spellcasting whether or not the skills are major minor or misc, he doesn't have to "miss out" on any spells except probably the uber potent super sorceror ones, and then only because of a lack of magicka. I would imagine that Restoration would be a good field for this character so he can heal himself, although of course you can also do that with your potions.

Axe is a great weapon in the game...I'm really happy that they made the axe kick ass like they did....they are heavy, but they do gnarly damage.

Actually he doesn't miss them. Magic, except alchemy and enchantment, are easily brought up with cantrips. Its tedious sometimes but if you tire of continous casting you can always buy some training. I like using the cantrips though so i can get that int and willpower bonus to bring a starter combat character into the magic scene. Sad thing is that conjuration is the only one that brings up int for your magika pool so you have to spread it out between levels to get the bonus everytime. Of course there is always security to do that but then you don't want a skill you will be trying to raise 10 levels every character level in your major or minor list. Hehe, I love this game. There is such a wide variation on ways to go it isn't funny but with planning you can make just about anything work. I have 4 characters now and every one is different but every one can hold their own. My current Redguard is working out nice except I put enchant into the minor skills and now I can't train it or it will de-bunk all the bonuses Ah well maybe after he is a holy terror I can give him some. He took out those 6 level 9 guys in Balmora Council Club at level 2 Check it out.

Anyway I can tell we all are very proud of our characters. You can tell by the posts here and other forums. Thats just another great thing about this game.

You can get all that armor in town then?
I know you didn't kill a guard to get it so I'm guessing you used the telekinesis trick... am I right?

hehe aye look at the map. I am standing at Drens (didn't all come from there tho) and yes i used the teley trick and invis depending on whether I have room to hide. First places I hit are Drens and Ghostgate. Then I hit Ald'ruhn and Maar Gan guard towers for cash.

thats a good character
i wouldnt have put hand to hand or unarmored in minor

put things in major/minor that you are going to use, since leveling up is based on the major/minor skills.

Just be careful when you swing your arms around in a crowd. Could really poke someone's eye out with all those spikes

Biljac, you look cool and u're character looks ok but it looks like that character will level VERY fast without getting any real big bonuses when you level. That seems like the VERY EZ setup at the beginning and I'm guessing ALOT of people do but it looks like you could lag very bad on abilities after you level a few times.

Have you leveled that guy alot since you took the screenshot? If you have are all u're skills leveling pretty well together? I figured I'd see what a hand to hand person was like and let me tell you at least for me it was HORRIBLE. It takes FOREVER to kill an enemy if you even do and being unarmed and unarmored you go through the skill FAST. I took on the first guy in the slave dungeon by town and just killing that first little guy leveled my hand to hand 2 and my unarmored skill a little over 1. Yea, it means you can level fast but just really ok in speed, strength, (if you jump alot) and maybe intelligence if you run to another town and do the spell quick training. I was hoping to make a pirate that didn't use a blade unless he had to but I saw after 5 minutes that I in no way wanted to wait like 5-10 minutes for a fight only against 1 person and be so unbalanced as a character it was rediculious. I'm a little bummed out, I really wanted to give him a try.
