| try doing a search on google or somwhere looking for directions on how to manually uninstall the game, Sometimes things get crossed in the registry and even though you run the uninstall from the game, there will still be some files there that will make your system think the game is installed or other wierd stuff.
You might also download some registry cleaning tool like regcleaner to try and make things easier on yourself. I'm not 100% sure where all the files are in the registry, so I don't want to tell you something wrong. But generally, when I have similar problems as to what you describe it is a problem with the registry.
