Exception or forgotfulness

I'm sorry, i couldn't help myself and stole Orchsh Cuirass and boots from shop just outside Balmora Fighters Guild (it was laying on the floor behind the bar). So, it was seriously damaged (200 of 900) and i gave it him to repair. He did it without notice! So i wonder if it's subj. of developers

I've enchanted them, never had a chance still to test if the merchant still recognizes his stuff after enchanting ... (it's forgetfulness indeed, but mine this time )

Enchanting helps!

Well, if it was really Meldor's stuff, enchantment helped indeed. I offered him both items, and all he found to say was he couldn't afford it. So i was content with boots only and he was happy to buy. Period.
There always is chance they're unique items, though. Can anyone confirm or deny the statement about masking stolen things with enchantment?
TIA,
L.
