Enchanting Thread (possible spoilers and/or cheese)

Well I decided to stop doing some quests for a bit and go start leveling up some of my skills i havnt used too much yet.

I am a knight so restoration and enchanting are two of my minor skills. Restoration is easy enough to level up, just get a few more healing spells and cast them like crazy, e z enough.

I have tried to enchant a helm, with the soul from a nix hound and a rat, obviously on two separate occasions.

Both were going for a 'Restore health 5pts on self'
my enchant level is 15 or something ridiculous for now, and i though that would be an easy enough enchant to do, but i guess not.

What are some tricks to starting to enchant stuff. You can tell me the cheese stuff you did, like killing rats in some dungeon after you bought or stole a ton of soul gems, or you can tell me other ways.

Also posting some combos that you have done might be nice for people to see. Where do you get all your soul gems too? If i keep failing like this im going to destroy all the soul gems on the island, lol. Are they easily found out roaming the island, i mean i dont want to have to buy them all, as im trying not to steal since im a knight .

I just dont know where to start rather then killing rats and wasting soul gems. Oh and did you guys find some soul trap spell or just use scrolls, i need to find if someone has a soul trap spell for sale.

I've seen a soul trap kind of spell for sale in the mage's guild before I believe. It would be "mysticism" school though so you might have trouble casting it. Scrolls are expensive though so definitely worth checking out.

I got soul gems before in tombs, I think skeleton type beasts dropped soul gems when they died - it happened at least once. Have you done a lot of tomb raiding?

not a lot of tomb raiding, i just finished lots of quests for the blades and fighters guild and was going to go solo adventure for awhile.

figured now would be a good time to work on enchating and some other skills.

I read on another forum someone else mentioning the same experience - finding soul gems in the ancestral tombs that you see all around. Usually those tombs are like 3-5 rooms, 3-5 monsters, so you can pretty much drink a potion of strength or something and trounce through there at high speed. Worth a try.

The best way to get enchant up is at the trainers. That may not be an option in the fighters guild though I imagine. The second best way to raise it is to use enchanted items. Try and find an item with a lot of charges and use all the charges every day.

You don't have to worry about casting soultrap with mysticism since you can just enchant an item with the spell at skill 30-35. Once you have the skill a good item to practice enchant with is a ring or amulet with absorb health, magnitude one, duration one. Use it to heal up after battles. I have one with 100 charges that I made.
