Anyone interested in modding a Morrowind Auction House?

Hey guys,

I am wondering if any modders are interested in creating a challenging, yet much needed, plugin for Morrowind?

Having played both the un-plugged GOTY and GOTY with an arsenal of plugins for a couple hundred hours, the biggest thing that I've noticed that Morrowind lacks (and which does not appear to have been addressed by any mod makers to date) is an auction house. This is a very popular feature in all Multi-Player Online RPGs, but has been overlooked here.

Obviously, since Morrowind is a single player game, you can't have other folks actually bidding on things, but, with randomizers, it could definitely APPEAR that way. This would be especially helpful for getting rid of high priced items that no one has enough money to buy.

There could be auction houses in different cities, or just one big standalone auction house where a player could take merchandise, set reserves, and starting prices. Randomizers would determine if it sold, how long it takes to sell, at what price over the starting price or reserve it would sell, etc. (And it would be awesome if the script could take into account enchantment cost on weapons, so that weapons you spent your hard earned cash enchanting would get a higher asking price than those that had no enchantment added to them.)

Obviously, the auction house would be the most useful if it also had random lots and rare items go up for sale. That could introduce some new rare items into the game or allow you to purchases crates of rarer alchemical ingredients. Of course, a randomizer would determine if others bid on the item and at what price they would stop bidding.

It would also be cool to have a plugin for Morrowind Comes Alive that would sometimes include an item that you had sold at auction in the inventory of one of the randomly generated NPCs. Granted, this touch might be completely lost if it didn't land in the hands of one of the generated companions whom you could use companion share on.

Let me know if anyone is interested in making this!

Thanks,

Blackjax

Blackjax, if you have led a team of Morrowind modders before, or taken part in the scripting of any Morrowind mods, please state which ones. Just to help people make an informed decision all the easier. Thanks.

Correction...

Fable,

My apologies. I am an enthusiastic player who saw a gap in the current mods. I do not have experience modding, although I am experienced with creating similar scripts in more basic programming languages, which is why I suggested the variety of randomizers I did.

My goal was to see if there were folks who would be willing to work together to create this useful mod. My actual ability to assist would more be in the knowledge of traditional randomizer logic, rather than actually creating the mod myself.

If this would be more appropriately placed in a different area, I'm happy to place it there instead. If this idea is not even possible with the limitations of Morrowinds scripts, please let me know, if don't mind. (I don't want to be posting impossible pie-in-the-sky ideas, if possible.)

Thanks and I apologize for the misunderstanding,

Blackjax
