Two HUGE problems -please help

I JUST started this game and I've already hit a wall. Problem number one is that I cannot seem to sell things to merchants. I select the item and drag it over to the merchants inventory. He takes it, but my gold doesn't go up! Then I can't get it back!

Problem two is I cannot read the Heal scroll to cure the brother-in-law in Hommlet. Even using "read magic" by my Cleric doesn't work. I can't use the potion of Heal because I haven't identified it -because I don't have enough money because I can't sell anything!

These are bugs I've actually never heard of before. Have you patched the game at all? If not, you really really need to. I recommend patch 2 from atari and temple.zip, a fan patch.

1. Unzip the patch. (Double click the folder you downloaded and choose the extract all files option in the corner of the window (XP))
2. Find the file in you GAME'S directory called "temple.dll" and remove it. (Put it somewhere you can find it again.)
3. Take the "temple.dll" file from the unzipped patch folder and put it where the original file was.
4. Inside the patch folder should be a folder called "data". Inside that folder should be three new folders. Take all of them and put them into the game's "data" folder.


If patching isn't your issue, then I'm not sure what's going on, but there is a workaround. You can always use the console to give yourself money (must have patch 2 installed to use the console), and you can even use it to give yourself a heal scroll, which will come identified/read/ready-to-use.
