Trader's courier

I seem to have locked this quest up somehow. I got the spy in the stable to spill his guts, but I have no option to confront the traders with this.

What happened is that I exposed the spy/sabateur over at the construction site, and I didn't notice that my journal told me to go talk to the traders. I went right up to the tower and reported it to the authorities instead.

Now, when I talk to the traders, my only options are to barter, hire their mercenary, or bring up the spy I already exposed. If I try the last option, it gets me banned from trading with them (which I don't want).

One more thing...
How can I start the console...
I've pickpocketed and then sold the gem for assasin quest, and now I can't get it back. Stupid "goldsmith" sold it to someone or something, it's not in his inventory, although I sold it to him. I would like to import it from the console so I can finish the quest...
