Red face

If you don't mind me posting this... no, I don't have it yet. I just want to wait until the reviews of the game out first, since I'm being more cautious with where my money goes nowadays. If the reviews are good, I'll more than likely buy it.

Still, I can admit that it's definitely too quiet right now, even if the game reportedly shipped yesterday. No news brief about that happening on GameSpot, strangely.

I've been reading posts at the Atari ToEE forum, alot of people have it and are playing it.

Of course if I had it, I'd be playing and not posting as well.

Just bought it at EB - they are giving away a free D&D paperback and a rebate for a $10 EB gift card.

Not half bad a deal.

I will be playing it after work - and after I get the kids and the wife to bed...

My wife should be picking up my copy in about half an hour. I'll have to tell her to ask about the $10 gift voucher thingie.

The first review has already come up at Gamespy.com.

They rate it four stars out of five, mainly faulting a linear story, light roleplaying, and too much dungeon crawling. They said that the implementation of D&D 3.5 and the graphics are very good. I'll be getting a copy tomorrow, and it looks like it's going to be not that bad. At its very least ToEE is a good dungeon crawl with new rules.

Interesting but disappointing review from gamespy. Their complaints are exactly what I feared. Still, I'm about to install it and give it a go.

Lightbulb After reading the GameSpy review...

ToEE still sounds like it will be a good enough game. I think that I may not be totally ready to go through Icewind Dale 2 anyway, so I'll uninstall that once I get this game. If I could finally beat BG2: ToB (right now, my file's left off near the end of SoA) before I get it, that may be better.

I was just thinkingof this: If & when Troyka release a patch for the game, what would it most likely fix?

Question About the sound & graphics requirements...

Let's see, I got to read the requirements to run the game on Atari's ToEE boards, and I was curious, since I want to see if my computer (which is a decent one; can play Icewind Dale 2 and Baldur's Gate 2 just fine, but I can't play WarCraft III because of some graphic error).

1) Can anyone tell me more about the sound card requirements?

2) My computer has an Intel Pentium III processor, and some info is sketchy. I do believe I have the hard drive space and free memory available (and I definitely will once I finally finish BG2 sometime soon). The thing with the graphics is that I was able to see the images of the monsters in full motion (though the images of the giants and other really large monsters was just a hint choppy in the middle of the image) on the website. Is that a good sign that the game itself will run well on my computer?

Okay, I had no problem installing, but couldn't get the game to launch. Was getting the spinning CD icon, then a blue screen with various errors. I calle Atari, who has excellent troubleshooters, or at least the one I got was. I found out I had 31 items in my Startup on msconfig! With his help, I got it down to 2, and now not only does the game launch, but my pc is faster!

If you're having trouble launching, check your startup in msconfig.

For reference:

Win ME (I know, I know)
900 mHz Celeron
30 gig drive
256 Ram
GeForce 4 MX 420 64MB video
Crystal WMD sound

Well, I'll keep that in mind, but I don't have the game yet. I want to make sure my computer can actually run this game, because the last thing I want is to buy it, and find out that my PC can't play it, but either my dad's or my brother's can. They probably wouldn't think too much of it, but I don't want to bother them about it. They both have enough games on their's anyway.

Edit: Well, my younger brother (definitely more proficient in computers than I am) answered my question for me about 10 minutes ago. My computer's a bit more than sufficient for this game.
