Angry Ridicule

Man, what a waste ... at first this game looks incredible then it looses itself in a glass of water ...

1st) How the heck can be possible a sorc or wiz can't identify an item without payin 100 gold pieces ??? ... a magician can raise a hell with demons but can't identify a healing potion just with his powers ... ridicule.

2nd) After you spend your 100 gold pieces to id somethin, what you get ? Its name, that's all ... i wanna know what properties it carries!!! Maybe i'm dumb but i couldn't figure how to check them and no trace on the manual too ... ridicule.

3rd) Maybe i'm even dumber but couldn't the unidentified objects be in a different color ? If u do not check every single item in your inventory very carefull u could miss somethin to id (as if it was usefull ...) ridicule.

4th) Why identical potions, even if unidentified, don't stack ??? Waste of inventory space. Ridicule

5th) Why once you id a potion the very same potions in the same inventory don't get id as well ? Waste of money, time, space, whatever ... ridicule.

Sorry but i'm mad 'cause this game could have been REALLY good with just a little more brain usage during its development ...
Flame me, whatever but please help me if i'm missing something

1. I believe that method of identification to be true with 3.5 edition rules of PnP DnD.

2. totally agree, it sucks you don't get an item history if it deserves one, or at least get the properties of the item. I'm currently looking for some good ref's online but haven't found any. Hasbro or wizards should have something on their site. I'll post a link if I find one.

3. This is a little tricky and it get worse still when you start to equip hirelings with magic items. The accidental, "whoops sorry I just sold that long sword +2 you were having me use as a secondary weapon, but I needed the money."

4. reminiscent of BG1

5. I'm not really sure casting identify on an item should ID all similar items. Again, using BG as reference, if you kill four skeleton warrirors and pick up all their two handed swords +1, you still have to identify each sword.

This whole problem with identifying items and their respective description may be annoying but it certainly isn't game breaking. I really liked the idea of just getting the name of the name of the item because I thought once you used the item (sword, cloak, potion, whatever), you get a more elaborate description, again more true to PnP DnD, one of T. Cain's objectives with this game. However, it has been a bummer to used named magic items and still not learn more about them. Thus, my search for an online reference.

5. if you ided all of them and they are all the same, just click on each one and they should stack now, it worked the same way in most other games that I can remember where the same items that weren't ided right away wouldn't stack after you ided them, but if you just click on them or move them around in the inventory they will stack.

In PnP 3.5E you're allowed several different methods (and much more cost effective) ways of IDing items, i.e. 1 gp and an alchemy check for potions, Knowledge (Arcana) checks, etc..etc..
paying 900 GP to ID 9 potions of CLW is beyond ridiculous....
otherwise its very true to the game.

Agreed...

I think it is all pretty true to game. I am enjoying the challenge. It is consuming me. Ha. Anyway, the ID's are expensive, but hey, blame it on inflation.... okay not funny... but the potions, they can stack to save inventory space.

yes but you can't stack them till you ID..so you can take up 3 slots with 9 CLW potions and spend 900 gp to do so or take up 9 slots with 9 potions and save the 9 slots..dumbness

Thumbs down Agree

There are several aspects of the game that could be alot better.several choices should be given when you install the game! Characters using or creating magic items should be able to roll aginst intelligence to id something they have used before or even created in the past.

No. By their very nature, each un-ID'd item is distinct because it is unidentified.
