Newbie questions to TOEE

Hi there.

I just borrowed my cousin's ToEE game (seeing as he is having too much fun with World of Warcraft and Halflife2 to play it). I realize there is an pdf file of the manual with the install but don't find it very intuitive. He forgot to give me his hard copy of the manual but there should be no difference between that and the pdf version.

For the henchmen, are their stats supposed to be hidden? I just got Fruella. Not that I wanted her but it seems that if you finished the two conversion quests (the leatherworker and one other I believe) for St Cuthbert temple, the temple head requires that Fruella and her father be converted to give consent to have carpenter's brother to join the Old Faith. This happened when I initiated the quest after those two conversions (sigh).

BTW, I patched the game with patch2 and patch3. Is it okay to apply the Circle of 8 patch on top of the official patches?

How do you move around the map faster? I mean I can do the North, South and East Hommlet option but that is still a lot of walking for the party. I can't believe that after 6 hours of mucking about, I have only covered so and so much of Hommlet.

Hello there, jeremiah. Would have replied sooner, but I've had other things to do.

1) Honestly don't know what to say there.

2) Yeah, there stats normally are hidden. Not sure if they didn't have time to program them in, or what the story was.

3) Guess I better check up on that.

4) Have you tried bringing up the map and clicking on the sections of Hommlet on your map? Saves you (as in you the gamer) quite a bit of actual walking in Hommlet.

Thanks for the reply. I think I am finally figuring things out. Just got to the temple and my Level 5 party with Meleny wiped out the group of brigands with the two witches guarding the Escape Tunnel to the burnt farm.

I thought my computer system could handle this but find it lagging during some of the more intense battles LOL.
