It's so dark!

Is there a brightness or contrast slider anywhere?

My monitor has both values at 100%, but I can't see anything. To find enemies I have to sweep my mouse back and forth across the screen until I find a red circle.

Is there a way to highlight everything 'interactive' on the screen like in BGII or NWN?

I agree with you completely about it being too dark. It's my major gripe with the game so far. No, I haven't been able to find a brightness/gamma control anywhere in game yet either.

As far as highlighting, you can use the tab key to highlight some things. It doesn't seem to highlight doors or chests, though.

you can go to the config file with a text editor and change the brightness from 0 to 1, makes a difference.

Can't say that config file change made any difference for me.

What's working for me is a feature of the ATI Radeon drivers. Going into it's advanced settings, there's one for "Game Gamma" that will adjust gamma levels in any game (while not altering regular windows settings). Made a world of difference for me.

My ATI Radeon card is too primitive to have that setting, but I'm expecting to replace it in a few weeks with a much newer one. That's a benefit I'll be looking forward to, though it's the kind of thing you'd think Troika would have dealt with.

In the end, I downloaded a program off guru3d.com that does essentially the same thing for my GeForce 5200.

Lightbulb

The TAB key only highlights the fallen enemies you can loot.
