| | Oopsie. The make sure you get 2.0 comment is actually copied and pasted from somewhere, and is why I said you may want 2.0 instead of 3.0.
Basically, I found a post somewhere detailing stuff on the no-cd crack, but it was pretty old. I assume it was posted at the time of 2.0, and was telling people to make sure to use the newest version. If 3.0 came out afterwards, then it should probably work too, and better. However, there is a chance this person was citing some problem with 3.0, and that 2.0 is preferable for some reason. So, yeah, I'd say try 3.0 and 2.0 only if 3.0 doesn't work. Sorry for the confusion.
...and no, I've never done tech support. I just know how frustrating these issues can be and so I try to help out. It's fun! |

| | | No-CD Crack may be needed for Patch 2 to work Hello, milord!
Well, it looks like the consensus on c08 is that you need the No-CD crack in order for Patch 2 to work. Here's the thread: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1739
I haven't tried it yet but thought this might be something to add to the sticky regarding patch problems for ToEE.
Thanks again! |

| | | Well, the no-cd crack certainly isn't required to run patch 2, since I've played through the game about 6 times without ever installing a no-cd crack.
It may, however, be required for some people for some inexplicable reason. I certainly sounds like it stands a good chance of solving your problem. |

| | | Patch Weirdness Hello, again,
Well, I'm befuddled. I'm not sure if I solved the patch problem or not. But I wanted to run it by you to see if this has ever come up:
Last night, I followed your procedure. I de-installed the game then reinstalled it, applied Patch 2, applied the no-cd crack, then applied the temple.zip files to the appropriate locations. I ran the program. Still no go. I kept getting the "Please insert Play Disc" message.
Despite my frustration, I decided to try once more. This time to be safe on the paranoid side, I removed ToEE, the Patch 2 download, and the no-cd crack download. The only thing on my system was the temple.zip file which, of course, wasn't installed after I removed the other programs. Then I went back and downloaded Patch 2 from the Atari website and the no-cd crack and then reinstalled ToEE.
This time I decided to look through the files of the unpatched ToEE to doublecheck all the file names so that I would know exactly where I should be extracting the no-CD crack and the temple.zip files to. When I looked through the ToEE files, I found Patch 2 and all of the temple.zip files in what I think are the correct locations! I ran ToEE, and it seemed to work, although the Play Disc was still in the drive. (I didn't get a chance to run ToEE without the CD to see if the no-CD crack had been installed.
The question is: did I, in fact, actually de-installed the game with all the patch and modifications in the first place? I used the standard de-install procedure of going to My Computer->Add/Remove Programs.
So I went back to the Atari website to find out the exact details of Patch 2, i.e. what does it fix? I wanted to then run ToEE to see if I could see the fixes.
Since it was getting late, I only looked for some cosmetic fixes that Patch 2 was supposed to provide. These included:
1) Corrected Help Page title for Bardic Knowledge which should say 'Bardic Knowledge' as the title.
2) The description of Gruumsh in the Help or in the Deity selection of the character creation process should say that Strength is one his domains not an 'attribute'.
3) The Help Page for 'Chain Lightning' should be corrected of grammatical errors.
4) Cat's Grace should be removed from the list of Strength domain level 2 spells.
Well, when I checked the Help Pages for these items in the supposedly unpatched ToEE, all these corrections seemed to have been implemented. Weird?
I'm now unsure what to do. I guess I could keep playing the game to see if I can spot any other fixes to further prove that the Patch 2 was installed properly. Or, I can try to play the game without the Play Disc to see if no-CD was actually installed. Do you know of any other things I can try to prove beyond a reasonable doubt (sheesh, I sound like a lawyer!) that Patch 2 was installed properly?
On a side note, when I created my Paladin I created him kinda half-assed in the sense that I let his Charisma be an 11, which meant that he couldn't do the Lay-on Hands feat. Well, last night he leveled up to Level 4, so I raised his Charisma one point to 12, giving him a +1 modifier, which should allow him to Lay-on Hands. But I don't see this feat available on the Radial Menu. Do I have to remove his longsword and shield from his hands before this feat shows up on the Radial Menu?
Any advice would be most appreciated. |

| | A WARNING TO YOU ALL
Using such things as a No-CD crack is not a safe practice. Such things are generally used from illegal activities such as illegal copying of games, so PLEASE refrain from discussion and use of such programs.
If any wish to discuss this further, PM me.

| | Sorry, I didn't mean to break the forum's laws. I'm definitely not trying to use the no-CD crack to pirate software, only to get Atari's Patch 2 to work on my PC. I was only commenting that other users have had similar installation problems with Patch 2 and it seems that the no-CD crack solved their problem, although it hasn't solved mine. Quote: |

| | | Sorry Galuf. Never would have mentioned it, but it seemed the only way to solve his problem so that he could run the game, and I didn't think even the producers of the game would balk at that. Of course, then others can read all this, and....
Anyway, our bad. |

| | | Anyway, since he's gotten the info already, you could delete the whole thread, I suppose. He can start a new one if he still has problems, or just PM me. |

| | | Alright, then. Remember folks: Don't crack your games, especially if you want to play the game legitimately.
