experience started over?!?

For some unknown reason, the experience on my paladin, rogue, and wizard restarted at 8000 instead of leveling up to 8th with 28000+. Im on level 2 and think this happened around the north section with the major bugbear fight. Has this happened to anyone else. Please advise.

Could you clarify on 'where' you think this happened ? I've never heard of this issue before..

on the north area of level 2, a big bugbear fight, north of "the littlest troll"
