xbox 360 disc tray problems

I am having trouble keeping the disc tray shut,it doesn't read any disc and even when i force it shut it opens up again.Can anything be done about this?

Maybe some type of motor problem?(I really have no idea honestly) I seriously don't think breaking into the console yourself is I good idea, however. Heard some seriously scary horror stories about people doing just that. Have you tried to google the problem, or contact Microsoft?(This might not be helpful, as Bill Gates is greedy, and their advice would mostly likely be "Buy a new Xbox")

If i take it to a service centre won't it be repaired for free?My 360's warranty has not expired(I believe it has a 3yr warranty)

Oh, if the warranty is still good, than they should fix it, but I don't like Microsoft, so "between cynicism and anger" is indeed where I am.

I think that either the disc tray motor has damaged, or the button to open/shut the tray is broken. Haven't seen the second option to happen in XBox, but in many other devices I have. If the button is broken, the console may think that immediately the tray closes you have pushed the open button again, and opens the tray.

On the other hand, it may be software problem as well, as you can control the tray with controller. Though I suspect that's not the matter.
