Damn Flash 6!

Why in the name of God is this mucking me about so much! On both machines at home, I go to sites like www.infiniumlabs.com or www.whoswestudios.com and I get the "Flash 6 player not installed" message. Fine. I go and install it, it says it works fine, and I can't get into the sites.

Any ideas folks?

Do those sites download and install Flash 6 for you or do they re-direct you to Macromedia's website?

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling Flash straight from Macromedia.com

Does it happen at other Flash sites or just those two?

They re-direct you to Macromedia.com, and that installation goes fine.

How can I uninstall Flash? Where's the option under?

I'm pretty sure that the only error I get is from sites needing Flash 6.

Well Macromedia site also refering to restart your CPU if something not working (which was suppose to enable Macromedia ActiveX after the restart process) Have you do that ?

Have you checked your browser's security settings to make sure that plug-in installation and use is running?

As far as I can tell under Internet Properties, there's no problems with installing Flash or programs of it's like, it looks OK to me, at any rate...

When in doubt, fdisk>format>reinstall.

If the only problem you are having is with Flash webpages, a full re-installation is a bit drastic, but if you exhaust all of your other options, that may end up as your only recourse.

Have you tried installing a different browser and seeing if the problem occurs with Netscape's Flash plug-in?

I haven't, no. I was wary of installing another browser, but I have used Opera before, I may try that and see what happens, I'll post the results once I've downloaded in a minute or two...

Surprise surprise, it worked. Must be a glitch for me. At any rate, Infinium labs site and Who's We studios is awesome, I'd recommend people take a look and see.

The reason I asked browser is because Flash has issues with the Mozilla derivitive Firebird (formerly known as Phoenix), mainly the fact that it doesn't create registry entries.

I'm not surprised another browser worked, as they're completely different plugins. If you still want to use IE, I'm out of ideas since I have no idea how to reset that to it's 'original' state without re-installing windows. Personally, I'd never go back to IE though.
