Angry BG 1 keeps crashing

BG 1 continually crashes during the fight in the wyvern cave in Cloakwood. I recently updated my graphics driver and installed the BG patch. I have DirectX 8.

Help?

I had the same thing EVERY time I wanted to go too the underworld. Only thing that helped with me was reinstalling.

Did you have any problems right after you installed the drivers or any other changes?

Nope.

The only problem I have in the game is with the wyverns. In fact, I discovered that the problem isn't limited to the cave. If I happen to be "waylaid by enemies" on my way through Cloakwood, and meet up with wyverns there in the open, the same thing happens. It's always when the second wyvern is killed, the game crashes.

Weird...

Are you running a full or partial install? Have you applied all of the official patches? Are you using any "aftermarket" BG products (Shadowkeeper, etc.)?

Have you tried upping your game cache? How much memory do you have in your computer? You might also try reducing the graphic setting on the game options menu; if you go to a configuration that uses few system resources, it might stop the crashes.

You might also try an uninstall and re-install to see if that fixes your problem. Are you running one of the no-CD check applications? Those mess with the BGMain.exe file, so that could be another cause.

Maybe you could give us some specs on your machine: memory, make, model, BIOS date, applications running in the background, etc. That will help give us clues.

I had that problem while playing SoA online some time ago......
....I think, in my case, it might have been a ram issue because when I turned off all the background tasks it stopped happening...
