Question Advise for multipurpose printer required

We (my friends & I) finally reach conclusion to get a multi purpose printer to cut some budget (I hope this is worth it ). For those who does not understand, it's a combo of printer, scanner, copier and fax. Since I'm not quite familliar with scanner specs, I was hoping I can get some advise which is the one (printer brand & type) we should get.

After some research I see the difference between Cannon & HP only the scanner resolution, which Cannon got bigger resolution. I know the bigger resolution is better but for type 3R photo do we need 2400x1200 resolution ?

Can anyone recommend good multipurpose printer which dos not cost a lot ?

I don't have one myself, but I've heard good things about the Lexmark multi-purpose printer/scanner/fax machines. HP is also generally a reliable brand, although you pay a little extra for their badges on the front.

Have you tried going to Cnet.com or TechTV.com to see if they have any reviews? You might also see if PC World magazine has done a story on them in the last couple of months.

I want to get one of those myself. I have to say that I have had both canon and lexmark printers in the past, and they both died after about a year. My HP Desikjet is still going strong, I print loads of stuff with it every day, and it's 4 years old - so I'd stick with HP. I'm not sure how much that model you listed costs, but I'd go with the most you can spend - the printer I have was a $400 inkjet printer, expensive then and expensive now - but as I said it's a real workhorse and seems like it will never die.
