| | | Why do you people want the same characters? I think that the point this series is that the main character is different in each game as well as the party characters. Does anyone beside me think that it would be boring if Revan, and/or the Exile, and that original party characters from both games were playable again? |

| | | Well, it strikes me that both the Exile and Reven have stories that need to be finished in KoTOR3. Personally, I agree, that they shouldn't really be playable characters. It's much more fun getting to explore a new character's identity in each game.
With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the NPCs from the two games return as party members (and certainly as figures involved in the plot of the story, if nothing else). It could be interesting to see how some of the characters have developed, and that familiarity adds another level to them. Now, I'd still like to see new NPCs, but a few familiar faces is always nice. |

| | | What I meant by this was that it could tie up the series but still have new and different characters and still answer those questions that are still missing an answer. This is only my opinion that it should be fresh so feel free to tell me off if there is a significant reason why those characters from other games are needed to tie up the series. Or maybe not tie it up? |

| | | The other have of the story you people are not looking at is the money, business. LucasArts will probably not tie up this series because it would put them out of money later. If they did tie up this series, then they would leave an open ending to allow another series. |

| | | well, eventually, revan and the exile have gotta die, u know? unless they make a kotor 3, 4, 5, and 6 that take place within 20 yrs of kotor II with revan and the exile still hiding, i dont think they can keep this up for too long. of course, they can always add new characters, lol. this way, the story can move on. i think occasionally they should bring back some characters as playable and cameo because that way those who have played the first 2 feel a sense of familiarity when they play.

| | | You are right, they can't keep this up for ever, people will tire. That is why some other LucasArts games are unfinished. The problem with this storyline is the personnel working on the game will run out of ideas, Kotor 2 was hard, Kotor 3 will be nearly impossible. If there is a Kotor 4, then LucasArts will probably have to listen to the costumers for ideas. |

| | yeah, they just might have to...But what do u mean by "Kotor 3 will be nearly impossible"? i think kotor II has laid enough ground to make the next one possible. the hk droids, T3's defenssive nature over the voice-locked navicomputer (which may mean the ebon hawk will be back!), obviously Revan and the Exile's flee to the unkown regions, and the threat of "the true sith..." not to mention numerous side quests that fill up most of the games (ie. getting to know your characters). yes, our personalized Revan and Exile may pose a small issue, but as discussed in other threads it is possible to take care of it, 'cause if they don't...kotor IV!
but to answer unbrow's question (i didnt really do that before), i dont think it would be boring to play as revan/the exile again, but i do think it would be much more fun to play as a new pc with a different background.

You're a kick ass Jedi fighting some pretty evil baddies who are apparently incredibly strong. The point of the series is the story, it doesn't have anything to do with who you are playing as. Until they've resolved what happens with Revan and the Exile, they can't really move on which means they need to wrap up this story arc. Quote: |

This is only my opinion that it should be fresh so feel free to tell me off if there is a significant reason why those characters from other games are needed to tie up the series. Or maybe not tie it up? | The easiest way to tie everything up will be to have the third game include the characters that everyone knows and loves (from both games) and resolve their fates. Just like Lucas couldn't leave his Original Trilogy hanging after just A New Hope or The Emipre Strikes Back and start over with characters that no one knew anything about, this story and its characters needs some sort of closure.
It's human nature to want to see the stroy through to the end (my wife can't even sleep at night sometimes unless she finishes the book she's reading), and we want to know what happens here as well. That they need to bring back Revan comes from the simple fact that this is his/her story. Revan beat back the Mandalorians, Revan discovered the threat of these "True Sith," Revan discovered the Star Forge, Revan and Co. defeated Malak to save the Republic, Revan left to fight the True Sith, Revan's general (aka the Exile) did his/her thing in the second game (mostly involving situations that were directly the result of Revan's actions), Revan's former master was a key character in the second game as were many people who had served under him/her in one capacity or another, and in the end the Exile - in theory - leaves to go find Revan.
In order to tie up loose ends with other characters, those people will have to know Revan and the Exile and know what happened to them. I know Starwars isn't exactly a pinacle of logical story telling, but what are the odds that you are going to find more characters who know about Revan and the Exile and yet were never meantioned/shown in either of the other games? Obsidion sort of got around this with Kreia and T3, but doing it twice will seem dumb. The game developers simply can't just say, "Oh, er, Revan and the Exile? Um, they died...or lived...or married their respective love interests and vanished. T3 says so and so does this person who happens to be the Exile and/or Revan's former right hand man that was never spoken of, but you just happened to meet him on some distant planet. The end." They've told 66% (or maybe it's 66.6%) of the story, now they have to finish it and the easiest way would be to let the important characters be your main people. Quote: |

Technically, we never really knew Revan. We knew -randomly generated name- who may or may not have been like Revan. Assuming that Revan's memories have all returned now, he could be different, but even if he isn't you really don't explore the main character's personality anyway. You either insert your own, pick the funniest things to say, or pick the choices that lead you to LS or DS points. The main character is whoever you want them to be (and can change personalities in an instant if you click your mouse too fast). Quote: |

I think it would probably be best if people joined up for a while, then left, and then maybe came back. Sort of like they're with you when the story/their goals/your goals need them to be, but they leave to do their own thing afterwards. I agree that the familiarity would add a new level to them and it would be nice to see what happens to Mission and some of the others who didn't get to make cameos in the second game. Quote: |

Once they get all things Revan and Exile out of the way, they can go back or forward in time and tell a different story, but for now, they're stuck with Revan. |

| | To each his own. I just wondered why you wouldn't want a new "kick ass" jedi to be to go and search for answers but you made that pretty clear. personally though I played as Revan enough times in the first one that i'm ready to move on. Just my own opinion. Xbox all the way.

| | | I don't mind not playing the same characters so much as I hate not knowing what happened to them. The droids, Canderous, Carth (and something about Bastilla that I can't remember) are what I got with regards to finding out what happened. There was also a couple of references to Jolee, but nothing that told me of what happened to him. I can picture Jolee going back into some sort of Exile, ala the surviving Jedi, possibly with Zaalbar and Mission on Kashyyk.
Just a datapad, maybe with memoirs or some kind of on-going mini-quest where you collect a chronicle of their history. Or maybe find an item created by Mission/Bao-Dur like...
"This Astro-tech visor is a second generation design by the Vaio corp tech-division and offers unbeatable detection rates. Vaio corp, founded by Mission Vaio, stands as the only viable opponent to Czerka in the galactic marketplace."
See? It's not hard to add in small details like that to satiate fans.
And while it might be nice to see Revan again it'd probably go a bit wonky when it came to balancing the game mechanics with the stats that Revan would have to start with. Part of the fun of the game is levelling up your character the way you want, and just how far can you go after Revan's level of power?

| The problem with things like that is your charatcer, whoever they may be, will not know or care really who Mission Vao was. The fact that she leads a companhy does not matter (kinda ambitious for a 14 year old street rat to get all that in 3 yrs, no offence ), its the fact that in a galaxy as huge as the star wars one people tend not to meet (except for the jedi who have an uncanny ability to run into the right people at the right time). Jolee Bindo was famous. He was also a Jedi. He was a celebrated hero at the end of the ls campaign in the first one. It makes sense you would hear samtterings about them. Given the Mid Rim thing and all.
But other than Carth'Onasi and Canderous, who are both now respected military men(the irony), the others never truley amounted to anything. And lets face it, when the Raktan band talks about a bunch of primitive people who lied about ruling the galaxy, anything Mission, Juhani or Zaalbar did really reached the public, including the fact the the satr forge was unknown and it was the major accompishment in the first game.
Besides that, what if you killed mission and carth in the first one? What if Zaalbar turbed on you and you killed him? What about if you killed Juhani and Jolee on the Platform at the confromtation with evil bastila. `What if you killed bastila? In the second one, what if you got Mira instead of Hanharr, or likewise with Handmaiden and Disciple? Stuff like that tends to stop old charatcer involvement. On the plus side, they DID manage to bring carth back for one last time in KOTOR II.
I am a supporter of Revan coming back, but as a NPC, not as a playable charatcer. Ive made myself fairly clear where i stand in other threads.
