Question out of curiostiy...whats so great bout the DS?

yeah, can any1 explain why they just absolutely love to play DS? i mean, i tried it on KOTOR II...got of telos nearly full-fleged DS, but i just couldnt do it. it felt wrong. personally, i could never go completely darkside. too morbid for me... them sith would just have to fight me to the death!

I agree somewhat

I agree I just cant play those games using the dark side. To me killing someone for fun isnt my idea of fun. I did like however making the thugs jump off the platform on Nar Shadaa in Kotor II but other than that I cant play the dark side.

Although you may find this odd coming from the mouth of someone who obviously is a light side lover but I hate the Jedi. I think they are too apathetic. I also thing there is flaw in there logic. All our lives we've been told to follow our passions but yet the Jedi Code tells us not to use our passions or our emotions. I hate how they just sit there conversing when action is needed to be done.

I prefer the Sith. I beleive if your leader is weak he doesnt deserve to be leader. A weak leader shows a weak empire. A weak empire shows a weak leader.

If I were in the Kotor world and were given the choice to choose between the Jedi or the Sith I would choose the sith but then I would act like a jedi. Maybe this would make myself weak but who said the Sith inheritally had to act all mean and want to kill everything. Even a sith can show restraint even in a moment when I could feel like killing someone. However if I ever got the chance to kill my master and take his place I would do it.

If I ever became a Sith Lord I would offer peace between the Sith & the Jedi although they would probally spit at it thinking it is some kind of deseption. I would then help the planets controlled by the republic. Making them my allies. Then when we were intergrated into the Republic strike against the Jedi and taking over the Republic.

Sounds alot like what happened in the Star Wars films doesnt it? Maybe I have thinking paterns allot like Darth Sidious.

Most people, like me, just want to see how it plays out differently from dark side and some people find it fun to be cruel, even to virtual people.

I have issues playing a dark-sider, too... even though it's only a game, I can't bring myself to do certain things.

Yes, making the thugs jump into the abyss on Nar Shadaa had me laughing for a very long time, other things such as killing the sake of violence left a bad taste in my mouth.

I think KOTOR II was an attempt at getting the gamers to think about the flaws in the dogma of both the Sith and the Jedi... however, it is only in the NJO series of books that the Jedi seem to come to a true understanding of the natrue of the Force (no dark/light side, only adhering to the will of the Force or going against it and good/bad intentions). Still, it is nice to hear of the different endings and different paths available to the light and the dark... whilst I never play as a DS character, hearing of the contrast is always fun.

The two main attractions of playing the DS are force lightning and it's simply quicker to play DS. I found that DS is best to play for replay. The first time I played KOTOR I was naturally good and as the good side you have to sit there through everyones dialog to figure out whats going on and be polite. You can't really be good and choose the dialog option of "I don't care what you have to say, just stay out of my way... or else!" And if you're replaying the game, having to go through all that dialog can be boring or you can be bad and just tell people to "F*** off!" However if it's your first time playing, you choose DS and go around telling people to leave you alone, you won't get much info and the game will be difficult. But if this is your second time playing, then you already know whats going on and I think DS is best for replay. Also, alternate ending.

You get off on fighting the random monster pixels but feel guilty about fighting the good guy pixels? You shouldn't feel bad about being DS. It's all about playing the game and having fun zaping pixelated people and playing out the story. It's not a life lesson.

well, i can understand playing ds for alternate endings 'n such, and i dont intend to learn ne life lessons either, lol. i really dont care what happens when playing ds cause i can hear it from all u guys' posts n stuff *laughs thinking to self* its just sometimes when i read people's posts about playing ds they sound really...enthused about it. *shrugs* hey, it is kinda fun to flurry ur way through ur enemies whether u r ls/ds right?

also, i agree w/ jedi thomas about having reason to dislike the jedi way and siding w/ sith at times. u really cant go through life w/o passion, its insane! and who wants weak leaders? its true. both sides have their pros 'n cons. well, i just wanted to see what folks had to say, is all...

I played LS through KOTOR then KOTOR 2, and have returned to DS KOTOR...
its just a different experience. I gotta agree that i get to cut through a lot of the bull****... At my rate ill be done in under 18 hours i think (24 LS)
It actually seems to be ez mode... after playing LS, where basically aside from force wave, your best offensive weapon seems to be sitting there and hitting them with ure lightsaber... a lot... i am playing DS and honestly its like "hey look, i do one attack and ure dead! hows that b***h."
What i did do just for fun once was when u first meet DS bastilla, despite being completely light i turned DS... killing jolee was a true joy, he just pisses me off. BTW, just answering sith in those areas u can go down to 3/4 of the way to DS from full LS... amazing how ez that is lol.
and then i made zaalbaar kill mission... and i found it funny. *shrug*
im a horrible person.
I gotta say that playing through this time im not finding it so fun, im hating having to do the mean thing just to get those DS points...
*shrug* at least my char looks intense if nothing else...
and pissing off bastilla and the others is just so fun... they never do anything about it and just sit there as i insult them...
good times good times...

I find that playing right down the middle is the best for gameplay. You dont have to worry about darkside points when you tell carth to PO. and its not as if its hard to become lightside. do one or two good deeds, and look, ur ready to screw up carth again. heh heh heh....

besides, if you dont want to be mean all the time, just dont finish the side quests. tell them no thank you, or fix it yourself, or forget about the sidequest.

be somewhat evil instead of uber evil! still get to full dark side and do some fun stuff and ignore carth, mission, bastila and jushani. besides... this also makes it much easier to be agreeable with canderous... and HK-47.... heh heh heh

i mostly play ls though, so I dont know *much* about the attatchment of the DS

Well in both games I did the DS first before LS and I just found the Dark side more fullfilling. There are limitless options to do both evil and cruels acts/dialoge. The powers are amazing and the ability to turn on each other ( End of KOTOR I ) was just hilarious. I never really liked Jollie Bindo or Mission very much lol. Basically its just your playing style.

Just my two cents

Well, I went through KoToR I as light side first and Dark side second, and I liked them both, alost the changes in your appearance when yoru dark side is very cool. I happen to be a fan of the sith. I think passion is important and embracing it is important, now the amount of hate in the sith isnt something I'm big on but that's because the yhave t obe the bad guys. I'm in touch wit hthe dark side though, I'm afraid. I enjoy both alignments though, I don't know.

Also, a bit off topic but i just remembered. Anyone else find it VERY annoying that it takes so long to get your lighstaber in KoToR II?

Most people havent played the DS all the way through. I think the farthest I ever got DS was just after I finsihed my last planet, Dantooine. Then I got bored and started over again as a girl for the first time.

I'll tell you what's so great about it

The DS, for me, is so out of character and not like me at all. I can do stuff that I would never dream of doing in real life. My natural inclination is to help people throughout the game, its true, but if you choose to hurt people it changes the whole dynamic of the game and makes the story line different and thus a slightly different game. Besides, the DS has better powers (to someone like me) than the light. I like being able to take out a whole room full of people with Force Storm, or use Horror to disorient a large group, or any other of the Dark powers. Those are my main reasons why I enjoy playing the Dark Side

There's probably nothing really so great being a dark sider, but then what's so great about being a light sider? It's all relative, I suppose. For me, I wind up doing mostly evil acts but I also have a kindness streak to me which pops up at the most odd times (I once felt guilty for robbing an Ithorian on Taris and felt kinda bad threatening the Ithorian who was going to call Telos security on me after I raided the Vivarium). I usually wind up in a rather pasty shade of gray, which is frankly where I think I belong. Going full-on dark, which I have done--and completed all the way, thank you--just seems overly cruel; it's alright to do it when it's necessary, but no more (something Revan certainly understood and Kreia tries to get you to do). Going full-on light, which I've also done, just tends to be kind of weak--as is always mentioned, the light side powers tend to be weak, but that's relative also--and you waste time and weaken yourself helping others (something Kreia also tries to teach you). So I'll sit in the middle happily, using my Force Storm and Heal to my heart's content.
